Lunar Eclipse!

Anyone else watching it?

Got cool pics until it got to corona, and then it clouded over too much to see the other side of the eclipse.

Hard to tell what is eclipse and what is clouds.

Blood moon!

We drove out to a deserted gravel parking lot in the hopes of being able to see the beginning of it. There were already 10 (!) cars full of idiots like us waiting for the moon to emerge above the tree tops. It looks spectacular! On a very rare occasion, the sky is absolutely clear in Seattle… And Mr. is having a field day with his $1K Canon from Costco. I guess the Christmas gift for Mr. has been taken care of.

Saw like the last sliver and then it disappeared behind clouds. I’m so sad :frowning:

I can’t see a thing, I think the moon is too far East, and we have too many trees. Dang!

It was very cool here in CT. Forced me to use my camera on manual, which I have gotten out of the habit of doing now that I no longer shoot HS sports. Truly red orange!

Bus, it will come up! We are in the wine district. It just emerged above the trees.

Sadly cloudy here, but watching on webcam

We had a good view of it, now have switched over to webcam.

Cloudy here. Very frustrating. :frowning:

Been watching the moon since around 7PM when it just broke over the horizon. It was huge then, but I was out running errands (saw it across an empty farm field) and when I got home, I couldn’t see it anymore because the houses behind us are on a hill and we couldn’t see above the housetops for a while. It finally came into view before the eclipse started. I’ve been taking pictures… some are cool, some I’ve erased. One of the first cool ones I got, was as the eclipse was starting, I still couldn’t get a shot without any tree branches from our back yard showing up… so there’s a stark line across the partially eclipsed moon, which is a tree branch (with leaves already off it). It’s kind of eerie/Halloweenish looking.

We had about 45 minutes to an hour where the clouds rolled in and there was nothing to watch. But then we started to see the orange glow and the moon start to appear again. We have high clouds starting to move in again, so don’t know how much longer I’ll see it.

Oh, and I’ve got the NASA channel on the TV in the background so I can listen to their broadcast, and compare their shot with my view from time to time.

We caught a few glimpses of it through the clouds here in Ventura County, CA but it was mostly too cloudy. Darn. My DH says we can use our walkers to go outside and watch it next time around in 2033 he he.

I watched with my husband. Couldn’t find the telescope but pretty cool through the binoculars. Reminds me of laying in the back yard with kids watching a big meteor shower several years ago. Then my daughter messaged me saying she and her husband were laying in their back yard watching it and it made her think of the meteor shower :’) (sniffle) and my son messaged me from 1200 miles away to say he couldn’t see it because of rain. Have had a stressful few days because of some work related stuff and this made me realize I need to spend more time and energy on moments like this that bring me joy and less on things that do the opposite.

We went outside 4 or 5 times to watch its progression. Nice, clear view here in CT-- and it’s so bright now!

Don’t watch it. It’s a bad omen.

Thought I saw red lights shining on my wall - turned out to be a tow truck.

We were with a Meetup group to watch at Mission Bay in San Diego - the moon rose under partial eclipse and just kept getting better. Spectacular through binoculars but the photos couldn’t capture the details.
