M&T Email?

Did any other M&T applicants get this email? Is it just like a form letter or a semi-likely letter?

Hi xxxxxx –

We understand you have applied to The Jerome Fisher Program in Management & Technology at the University of Pennsylvania. As Associate Director of the program, I am happy to write you today with additional information about the M&T Program.

M&T students graduate from Penn with two distinct degrees—a Bachelor of Science in Economics from The Wharton School and either a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or a Bachelor of Applied Science from Penn’s School of Engineering and Applied Science.

One of the benefits of such a unique program is that you have many opportunities available to you. The Wharton School currently offers more than 20 concentrations, and a number of M&T students choose to complete double concentrations (e.g., Finance and Management; http://undergrad.wharton.upenn.edu/curriculum/concentrations/concentrations.cfm</a>). Similarly the School of Engineering and Applied Science offers many choices, with more than 15 degree options (Majors). The M&T website (http://mandt.wharton.upenn.edu) will provide you with more detail about the program—click on the links for both Prospective and Current students.

M&T students are extremely active in the Penn community. Many participate in the numerous clubs, sports teams and other activities available to students; a number hold positions of leadership. The Undergraduate Admissions website has information about student life at Penn (http://www.admissionsug.upenn.edu/life</a>). Please take a moment to explore the opportunities that are available; you are sure to find something that interests you.

M&T students have always been highly successful in finding an exciting internship, that important first job, or pursuing an advanced degree. In recent years, M&T students have been the recipients of a number of prestigious awards to pursue graduate study. The Gates-Cambridge Scholarship, for example, is awarded to 50 graduating students across the country each year to support graduate study in a field of their choice at Cambridge University. In recent years 3 M&T students have won this outstanding award! M&T students are standouts at Penn and beyond.

I encourage you to contact the M&T Office in the coming weeks to learn more about the program and to ask any questions you might have—whether it’s by e-mail, by phone, or an actual visit to Penn. I will be happy to talk with you personally about any aspect of the M&T program or Penn. Current M&T students will be available to talk with you about their experience as well. We feel strongly that the best way to learn about what it’s like to be an M&T student is to talk to a current student.

Thank you for expressing your interest in The Jerome Fisher Program in Management and Technology.

Sincerely,

Scott Reynolds

Yeah - I got one too. It looks to be a form letter, and since there were only 479 apps to M&T total, I think they could afford it ;). Perhaps its simply a way to learn more about the program so that you can better prepare yourself to be let down when you don’t get in?
jk

479 applicants… how many will they pick out of the 479?

did everyone get one? I didn’t. :(

Any other M/T applicants not get one? Mattwonder what are your stats?

My son received one too and we are wondering whether this is a likely note or simply one that encourages people to learn more about the program.

I second mooses41’s question : did any other M/T applicants not get one ?

I am an M/T applicant from MA who hasn’t gotten one of these letters…hopefully its not a bad sign.

mooses41:
my stats 36 ACT, 790 v 760 m
800 II C
790 chem
790 writing
790 USHist
4.3 gpa
whole lotta theatre, robotics, choir, debate EC’s
whole lotta AP 5’s
top 2%

The letter really doesn’t say anything about admissions decisions, but speaks only of the M&T program - I don’t know if they’d want to overwhelm their current students by inviting all applicants to chat, but who knows?

Hey, I’m an M&T applicant and I also got the email. Nothing in the wording suggests it is a likely letter. Then again, since this is the first “personal” email Penn has sent me, I’m hoping that its a good sign.

they probably send them as they review them?

aruben, supposedly it is an email. I’ve been refreshing my inbox and it isn’t there. Did you check your email?

thoughtprocess, I think everyone got it at the same time or 4 people wouldn’t have received it. Did you not get one either? Don’t feel bad, I didn’t. :(

I didn’t get one either

Ok. Well the way this is looking (and this is just me thinking out loud, i could definitely be wrong), i really doubt that these are likely letters seeing as how like 4 of us got them (seems high considering M&T’s acceptance rate). However, my guess is they might be sending them to kids whose applications are still being reviewed for m/t and have not been send to either wharton or seas.

Let me know what you think.

got one here too

oh and mooses…the whole cc board and the penn board in particular is filled with many high achievers in general, right? so i wouldnt be surprised if 4 of them got likely letters…thats just a guess…maybe im wrong? what’s your take on it guys?

Well, they are obviously extremely qualified, so they might be likely letters (errr…likely e-mails).

No email here :(

i got a actual letter about m&t but i didnt get in

Mike was that last admissions cycle or ed this year? What time of year did you get the letter, and was it similar to this email? Thanks for the info.

hahaha…this is sketchy and uplifting at the same time!
