I can give my stats and ecs if you want but prob should do it privately
Sorry to hear you did not get the best outcome you were looking for and hopefully the WL will convert. We applied for my daughter and got an admit. However, there is no FA and we are in a good school district. So, we need to weigh in on whether to take it up or continue in current school. Any insight on CA would be hugely appreciated.
It comes to ur email via clarity (if you applied for financial aid)
A little late but,
Accepted exeter, waitlisted SPS and choate, rejected andover and hotchkiss
still unsure about what i’m going to do
Strategy question: applied to two schools- accepted at one with very generous FA and waitlist at the other (email very clearly states waitlist due to need for financial aid).
If you want to follow up with the waitlist school, do you tell them you have an offer from another school? Are there pros and cons to keeping this information to yourself ? Or would it help you to disclose your other offer?
Wondering if the waitlist school is more likely to bypass you because they now know you at least got accepted somewhere else?
Your acceptances are to three very different schools! If you can attend any of the revisit days, I would recommend doing so and see where you feel most comfortable. Ask yourself where you want to live for the next few years.
Thacher is very small and rural and at least 2 hours from a major airport. And don’t go there if you don’t love horses!
My son was accepted at St Marks a few years ago and I loved it. He ultimately decided it wasn’t the best fit for him but it seems like a nice community with a great new dorm. Lots of opportunities for travel. Not too far from Boston or Providence airports. I would have chosen it for myself of all the schools my kids were accepted at but they ended up at other schools.
Loomis is more than twice the size of St Marks and Thacher, with a lot of day students, more suburban but not far from the Hartford airport. The campus is very nice and it was my daughter’s top choice for a while (she got waitlisted). They have heavily recruited in several popular sports for the past few years so if you’re not a recruited athlete don’t expect to play varsity right away.
The academics are great at all three so at this point really consider size and location.
Is there an amount of FA you would need from the waitlist school to make it competitive?
Hi yes that would be great thank you so much
Thank you so much!!
Welp, I got waitlisted 5 times. Time to wallow in my sorrow now. At least tomorrow’s a snow day ![]()
Hii i have a question. If an ao says my thank you email will be added to my file, is it a good sign or just an administrative thing?
Guys ik ths is a freakout but idk where to go… Andover or Deerfield or Local school. I think And overs academics are rlly good but the workloads alot and idk what to do
Could you share that with me as well if you could?
To you and all of the other students and families with multiple boarding options:
- Congratulations!
- If at all possible, go to the revisit days before you make up your minds about which school is absolutely the best one for you. Schools will surprise you for better and for worse on those days.
Congratulations to all who got accepted!! I have a couple of questions:
- I got waitlisted at 8 of the 9 schools I applied to (rejected from Lville), is there a chance that I would be taken off?
- Has anybody been taken off the waitlist before?
- How competitive are waitlists and how do they work in terms of re-evaluating applicants?
Thank you and once again, congratulations!
I would add, spare a thought for the kids who didn’t get into the school(s) you are posting about, or who maybe didn’t have any acceptances at all. Imagine how they might be feeling.
I highly recommend this comprehensive and insightful thread for all with waitlist questions:
can we pm I got into Deerfield as well
They love it and couldn’t be happier! Made so many friendships.
ye 100% pm me
