feeling crushed right now.

I’m trying to think if I want to go to Emma, go to my public high school, or reclass as a 9th grader next year and apply to more schools.

I know that can be a VERY tough choice to make. Thankfully, you do have time to decide, as it’s still M10 and I assume Emma gives you until April 10th, as other schools do. If you need any help deciding or thinking about anything, you can pm me. I recommend thinking about how you want your future to look and seeing which school aligns with that vision (okay, that was a really bad example/analogy, I’m sorry :sob: )

Nah bro i mean u could always back out if u really want another school and u get off the WL! (Hope its not peddie tho i need that spot :pleading_face:)

For people starting to move into the decision process, first, you might want to take a bit to just absorb all this. But second, you might want to reflect back on why you picked each of your offer schools for your application list. This doesn’t commit you to follow your original reasoning, but it might be helpful to consciously start there.

ye, def going to revisit day, Hope to see you there!!!

Do not reach out saying you have another offer. I recommend you stick with what you got, but if you dont, at least explicitly state to then that the waitlist school is your top choice (which I believe it may be, as you seem still interested in said school). If the school is your top choice, it doesn’t hurt to ask to stay on the WL and ask if more aid can be allocated. They may hear you out.

There is little to be gained from telling them you have another offer. DO accept the position on the WL, and if you would 100% attend if offered a spot, tell them that (even if it means forfeiting the deposit at the school where you have been accepted should the opening occur post A15.)

While schools may want to help the kid who has no options, they are actually far more interested in filling the open spots quickly and with the students that fill the class appropriately. Saying it’s your first choice helps them know they can address the vacant seat quickly.

I researched a little: the waitlisting pools seem to be huge (at least for the top ones), if not more than the admitted pool (still, you kids should be in that top 1/3). The admitted pools already reflected the historical yield, I think. So, getting off the waitlist is pretty darn hard. From Exeter, it mentioned from zero to fifteen a year. We clicked yes to all but are definitely moving on.

Feel free to message me. I can share the (parent) perspective of a current freshman at one of your schools. They had choices last year, and are deeply happy with the choice they made.

As a parent, I was very focused on fit. There is important nuance to share.

Very happy for both of you to have two exceptions choices.
