M10 2026 Freakout Thread

The workload’s a lot, but so is Deerfield’s.

Revisit will tell you all you need to know. You don’t have to decide now.

We’re ‘29 as well and same. Deliriously happy.

We’ll see how much when grades come out tomorrow :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Bingo. The school that was third on my kid’s list originally ended up where she went. And she couldn’t be happier.

I think I’m going to Emma’s.

Great idea! Hopefully that should help you decide where you want to go even a little bit more.

Yeah, where you located? got one from Canada

If you get off the waiting list, do you still get a letter of acceptance? Or an acceptance package?

Congrats! What took them so long? I mean, did you not get an email beforehand?

im international :sob:wasn’t even expecting one, so its an excellent surprise.

Still, the e-mail notifications should have been sent out yesterday. Either way, congratulations!

My son is also a ‘29. He works very hard but he never complains. He is a day student but stays at school until 8 or 9 most nights and goes in most weekends at well. Often to do work, but sometimes just to hang out too (especially in the fall when the weather was conducive to spike ball on the lawn).

Being around other kids as committed academically and athletically as he is has been amazing for his development. He also has several adults on campus he has formed close relationships with.

I am jealous of his opportunities!

Did you get a package from Emma? They said a few days ago that they mailed something, but I didn’t get anything.

It’s probably just something they do with all candidate communications.

DS (applying to 9th; mostly As / A-/ B+; 99th percentile SSAT, no hooks, FP) was accepted at Hill and George; rejected by Lawrenceville.

We got an informed delivery ‘label made’ update for George on March 7; first label update for Hill (presuming) received today, so another anecdotal data point that not all acceptances receive package notifications before M10.

If the schools are otherwise a great fit and you don’t go purely because you fear the workload, I worry you will always wonder “what if.”

on the other hand, if you go and decide “this really isn’t for me” (I suspect it wouldn’t be because of the workload if that were the case) then you will know that.

Attend revisits. Talk to students about their typical days. Think about how you’d fit what truly matters to you into that day. My own son found that he now dedicates even MORE time to his passion (his sport) than he did when he did his freshman year at our public school. The workload is a lot but he adjusted within a month. I’m told it kicks up again Junior year, though.

It kicks up every year but is particularly intense Junior/Upper Year. But by then they have developed the muscles to deal with it. Athletes feel it most because of the added pressure of it being a big performance year for recruiting purposes. But that would be the case anywhere and they all still seem to love it there.
