You’ve done what you can. Now it comes down to who else accepts their offers, which is entirely outside of your control.

What makes deerfield your first choice? Also what grade are you going for

Their core values is what like stood out to me. The campus is beautiful and also just like the academics. Also, I wouldn’t be too far away from home and I am familiar with their first seed on the varsity tennis team. I have a brother at Georgetown who has met tons of people from Deerfield(and prep schools in general), and he finds them very impressive and nice to be around. I’m applying for 9th grade. I think the same goes for me and Kent, like my schools ranking was 1. Deerfield 2. Kent, then everything else

Hello! I was wondering if the workload is actually 4 hours each day (even on weekends). Is the community filled with students who have a genuine passion for learning? Are there leadership opportunities for individuals who are more introverted than extroverted?

btw there are videos on Andovers Admissions insta abt the lifestyle there

I know a few people at Andover and they are pretty overwhelmed with work, but it’s good because college has work levels like that, some even more extreme.

I am sorry that your son did not have better outcomes, as of yet. As you guessed, it might be the lack of familiarity with your current school that made the admission officers somewhat hesitant.

I am by no means an expert, but would strongly suggest that you speak with your son and shortlist 2-3 schools that he really liked during the process. Have him send them a convincing email and on why they should accept your son. Pick one, and genuinely only one school that he will 100% commit to, and tell them that you will enroll right away if they make a spot for you.

Good luck!

Agree with everything CarnegieDad wrote to you. Regarding why such an outstanding child as your son was not admitted, it could be that the schools weren’t sure he would thrive so far away from home, despite his leadership attributes. Looking back at my own kid’s admission experience, the fact that he had attended various sleepaway camps for several weeks away may have helped him.

Hope to see you there!!

Yes I did, it was just a card and two chocolate bars though so you aren’t missing out on much

Also from Texas, and waitlisted everywhere :sob: , how did you reach out to the AO’s? Because I want to know for my own waitlists

if you’re writing a loci, just state anything you did recently such as new awards/achievements and what you liked about their school. also make sure to thank them

Most schools say they do not accept new info regarding accomplishments

Can waitlisted students go to revisit days? probably not, right?

Age may be a factor as your son is quite young if he is only 13 in March. BS students tend to be much older than gen pop with many 9th grade reclassing. You could apply for 9th again next year. Activities might also read as very parent driven if he is that young.

No, unfortunately

What are some ways to connect with other incoming freshman or returning sophomores, juniors, and seniors before revisit days and the start of the school year?

search up the school on tiktok or look at the school instagram’s follower list!
