M10 2026 Freakout Thread

did u get into taft??

Not that I know of, they just didn’t receive my 23-24 report card early enough so one of the AOs told me I’d get my decision late

Basically only 2 weeks left!!! What’s everyone’s M10 plan? I’m thinking of staying home and hopefully my dad will go to work in the office instead of from home so I can get the news alone… idk if that’s weird but I’d honestly just rather brace myself without anyone else around:sob: maybe I’ll pull an all nighter so whatever happens I’ll still be too tired to take it all in:face_holding_back_tears: assuming I get into somewhere I don’t think I’m telling anyone until April 10th

yeah, I want to do the same, but I kinda used up all of my days going to the interviews, tours, etc, so I can’t skip. Also, I have a tennis tournament on the same day so I’ll pretty much be occupied until 8 PM. I’m gonna be so shaky and nervous.

Real I have way too many and tardies bc of interviews:sob:

guys I’m so scared bro I legit want lville so badly this is unreal I’m like crying rn at the possibility of not getting in :sob:

SAME but for Loomis
I can’t stop thinking about it. Is anyone else literally having dreams about rejections/acceptances/waitlists? Because I am. :sob:

Ikr! It feels like we’ve talked so much more but I think it might be because they had more people talking, while we only have like 9 people that talk here (not counting the adults):sob:

Not me reading the 2024 freakout thread 30 mins ago

Hi! Been lurking here for a bit, I’m not applying this year but for next year likely as a 9th grade reclass. But I’m getting VERY anxious reading how good some people in the past had such great EC’s are and still didn’t get into a school! :downcast_face_with_sweat: I don’t think I’m a horrible applicant, still working on many projects, and I know I can make my application MUCH better before I apply. But a lot of my ECs will be mainly passion-based and fully or mostly self-initiated. I have a LOT of passion for what I do, I just didn’t find many opportunities for awards, the athletics I want to do, competitions, etc., at my school, l so I tried to make my own path. Of course, I still do have many ECs and awards that aren’t like that, but not as many as I see from many people on here. I’m also a bit worried about athletics, currently I do none, and I want to and will start them next year, especially considering the sports that I want to do are not offered at my current school. And I’m concerned about many of my ECs being newer, as I have changed a LOT and become a much more developed person, but I know it doesn’t look as good on a resume or something similar. Does anyone know any things I can do to make my application better by starting new things, or just general application tips for someone like me? I know stats and ECs aren’t everything, but I’m still worried mine aren’t enough. Sorry, just very anxious! :slightly_frowning_face: I wish the best to all of you on your applications and hope you get into great schools! ^-^

Sameee, I’ve been stalking CC for the past few days

Nope. I’m just a parent.

lmao (complete)

same, the freakouts r like my show

Welcome! You might want to start a new thread to ask your questions. But high level, I think having a lot of passion for things and making your own opportunities to explore those passions is actually a great story. So I would just keep doing that, and try not to compare yourself to others online. There is not some formula you need to follow.

Hey! I totally get the anxiety about seeing everyone else’s amazing ECs. But for those posts you’re reading, people probably weren’t rejected because of their ECs. More likely, they just weren’t the right fit for that particular school, or the school was looking for something different. Honestly, it sounds like you’re already on a great track.

The fact that you’re creating your own opportunities is awesome. Schools really dig that kind of initiative. Don’t sweat not having a ton of awards or official stuff (even though they’re great to have). Passion projects can be just as impressive, especially if you can show how much you’ve grown and what you’ve learned.

Definitely agree about sports! You should totally start one next year. Just show you’re dedicated and improving.

And it’s no big deal that some of your ECs are newer. Just explain why you switched things up and what you got out of it.

For the ECs you’re involved in, try to show that you’re growing and committed, and definitely look for opportunities to take on leadership positions.

I think the most important thing these schools look for is the impact you’re having in your community by doing what you do. Even with passion projects, try to find ways to show your impact. Did you help a certain number of people? Raise some money? Make something better?

Like I said, look for chances to lead, even in your own projects. And definitely talk to people who know their stuff in your areas of interest. They can give you great advice and maybe even help you find new opportunities.

Again, ECs and awards can be important, but they aren’t everything. Just try to do everything you can, crush your essays and interviews, and you’ll be fine!

" I have a LOT of passion for what I do, I just didn’t find many opportunities for awards, the athletics I want to do, competitions, etc., at my school, l so I tried to make my own path." This is great! Mention this to the schools you’re applying to!
