Although its obivous that not everyone on CC is into the music thats played on the radio or tops the Itunes chart (Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber etc), but I’m personally a fan of most mainstream music.

Of course I listen to my fair share of non mainstream music but Im not afraid to sing along to Starships if I hear it on the radio.

Although mainstream music gets a lot of hate for having no substance and being of low quality, Im a sucker for catchy music

so Im wondering if other people on CC feel the same way where they love the music on the radio but other music too.

The best part of Starships is the quick “Starships are meant to fly/hands up and touch the sky” line and then like the idiot she is she ruins the rest of the song.

I’ve never got why people care if it’s mainstream or not anyways? I mean if it’s a good song it’s a good song, I’d like to see them try and make a platinum selling album lol

Although most mainstream music is mindless and crappy, I actually am fond of a lot of it. For example, even though it didn’t take a lyrical genius to write Call Me Maybe, it is definitely one of my favorite mainstream songs of the year.

I don’t mind most of the stuff on the radio, but I don’t listen to it a lot. I’m really digging Frank Ocean (longtime fan here!) though, and I wish his songs were played more often. I highly reccomend you listen to him.

I’m a fan of fun. (period necessary), if that counts. I like Gotye too… I know he had one hit so I guess that counts too.
Most mainstream stuff I really don’t like. More for the sake of it being same-old than its mainstreaminess itself, if that makes sense.

In the interest of finding a common soul in another “brainwashed sycophant” of a “mindless teenage soul” (or, at least that’s how we were described in the comment section of Youtube) - I like mainstream music.

I don’t understand all the hate it gets. Sure, I’m not going to jump to listen to Justin or One Direction (mainly because I just don’t like their singing), but, blast some Eminem or Beyonce (or Michael Buble, because he’s completely drool-worthy, and sounds like Heaven, I don’t care what anyone says), and, I’ll be the first one in the dance party.

Then again, I type this while listening to my poorly complied Disney Princess/Big Band playlist on Spotify, so, for all my opinion is worth…
