I’m currently a junior who accidentally got sucked into taking easy classes this year and quite frankly, I’m bored out of my wits and can’t wait to put some challenge into my schedule.
But, I’m also a little worried about overloading myself, so I was hoping for some feedback.:)

This year, I took regular physics, regular precal, honors english, honors history, Ap spanish 4, art 2, and debate 3.

Next year, I’m hoping to take AB Calculus, Ap Bio, AP Gov and Economics, and Perhaps AP english 4. I’ll also keep up with my debate class, take AP spanish 5 (maybe), and ap Psychology (another Maybe).

Basically, I’m wondering if I’ll drown based on my exceedingly hard aspirations. I plan doing Biology in College, so I know that I need to increase my difficulty to prepare for college… Do you think I’ll be prepared for English 4 and AB Calculus given that I’m currently in much easier classes currently? I can handle timed writings and I’m pretty decent at math. Basically, I’m asking your opinion. Will I sink or float? :)

I’m in AB Calc right now. We cover a section of a chapter within 1-2 days. Also my homework problems are around 20-40 a day. If you can handle that pace, you should be able to float. :)

I’m in Calc BC and we only have 10-15 problems a night xP This past week we’ve been covering a section a day. It varies widely across schools. Probe around to see what the homework loads are and see if you’re down for that.

Since you’re a senior, and this honestly depends on what you’re going for in college, consider jumping to Calc BC. You move a little bit faster than AB, and then of course learn a couple more sections.

Personally I did a major jump from freshman year to sophomore year, it was brutal and my grades suffered. Eventually everything worked out, but anticipate the first month or two being extremely tough. I would not take more then 4 APs next year based on your junior year, but do what you feel comfortable with.

AP Psych, Government and Economics are a joke. They are super easy. AP Spanish was a free A for me because I was raised bilingual, but if you are taking AP Spanish now, then it shouldn’t be too hard.

AP Bio is hard, it’s a lot of work for me. I’ve never taken AP Cal, because I am terrified of it. You are talking regular precal, so maybe consider Honors Cal? I dunno, that seems like a huge jump for me.

It will be hard, I’m taking 5 AP classes this year, as a senior. The most I’ve ever taken is 2. The first semester is brutal, but the second isn’t that bad. Once it’s April and you are in review mode, it’s not that hard anymore.

bump. bump bump.

How do I balance? Would it be better to just take AP Bio, AP Calc AB, AP Gov and Econ, and then nothing else… or what?

Instead of taking five APs consider an elective or two or a couple of honors class. For example I have a sort of similar AP plan for senior year (AP Bio, AP Calc, AP Euro and AP English Lit), but to balance that out I am also taking two electives that do not produce a ton of homework.
