Manic Pixie Dream Girl

I’m not much into movies, but I enjoy English so I could relate to archetypes being used in movies. When I saw i Days of Summer * I really enjoyed it; I particularly liked Zooey Deschanel’s character, Summer.
I looked it up, and apparently she portrayed an archetype, the Manic Pixie Dream Girl.

Which features videos on some notable MPDG (including Natalie Portman and Audrey Hepburn - my two personal favorite MPG).
What was eerie is that I found some of my own traits in this archetype. It seems that I’ve been entranced with this kind of woman for a while; I’ve molded some of my characteristics after her. Whip smart sense of humor and feigned carefree attitude being two of the most prominent for me.
The funniest thing was that one of my closest friends is actually extremely cynical and brooding, and I have “restored” him in some sorts. My boyfriend is an artist (but not outwardly cynical or whatnot) and has commented on how I’m muse-like.
My personality tends to a “no problem” (as in, no family problems, no emotional turmoil) kind of image, pretty much. I don’t think I’m nearly as good-looking as a proper MPDG, though.
Found an archetype that you most closely align with or after which you’ve been unknowingly sculpting your behaviors? Share. We’re not as original as we’d like to think, I suppose!

Or, if you don’t have an archetype in mind, comment on the Manic Pixie Dream Girl. Love her or hate her?

I don’t know too many character archetypes (TBH, this is the only one I know) and I am clearly not a MPDG, so I can’t answer your original question.

MPDG sound a bit annoying on paper but I absolutely loved Katharine Hepburn in Bringing Up Baby (#8 on your list) and Shirley MacLaine(#7) in The Apartment. So I guess I don’t mind MPDG.
