March 10 Crystal Ball/ Nerves Calmer

Confession time… :stuck_out_tongue: I’ve been making lots of new threads and posts through the CC-app through mah phone (the only valuable thing I have in terms of money) xD and I sent that last post at 8:01 on the bus… I got into school a few minutes after that.

@doomedforfailure: Haha don’t we all :D

I have some things to confess too, but uh, I’ll talk about them later ;)

(like terrible online-privacy habits: I apparently leave a trail of breadcrumbs right up to my identity…but it’s hard to protect what with all the stats and crap)

Oh, wow. I see… it’s time to stalk your posts now. JKJK!!!

I’m trying not to reveal my identity at all… I didn’t post a chance-me so I guess that’s good. xP

O.O On my laptop that says 9:01 PM. HAHA we’re exactly 12 hours apart! I’ll assume you’re in the EST time zone then :P

^same haha aaralyn! we’re in the same timezoneeeee :)

Eastern Asia FTW! :D

10 more days !!!

Ahhhhhhhhh

@helloel: I feel like I’m in the eye of the storm right now…somehow calm…

Somehow, i’ve been trying to get through it.
Sometimes my tactics work, sometimes they don’t. Reference that thread about list of things to do while waiting.

Well, I’m measuring time using my trip to Beijing next week. Not only do I have to write my opening speech, fix my resolution, and pack, I still have to worry about admission decisions! At least when I find out what the schools decided, I’ll have some darn good Peking duck in my stomach. ;)

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to say this is a super exciting time and all…believe me, I’ve gone through it! I thought I would share a few words of advice, though, before the big day.

Love the school that loves you:
If you are waitlisted or rejected from a school that you really loved, yet are accepted by another school that you applied to, don’t rule the other school out. Obviously they wanted you, and you took the time to apply there, so check them out. Even if they aren’t your first choice, they still may have a lot to offer.

March 10th in general:
For those who are rejected, March 10th is a tough time. Hopefully we can all be considerate of those who aren’t as fortunate to be accepted.

Those rejected:
Keep your head held high! There are several opportunities for you to go to a good school. Just because you aren’t going to boarding school doesn’t mean that your life is over. It’s not that a school doesn’t want you (although it sure can feel that way)…it’s the fact that the school doesn’t have all the space to accept everyone, and sometimes they have too many people that have similar traits to you. They need a well-rounded class, so they can’t all take braniacs, jocks, or something similar.

BE POSITIVE
Seriously. Just do it.

Good luck you all…I’m excited for March 10th too!

@laughalittle: Thanks so much for the awesome inspiring post  I feel a lot better now

laughalittle, you were there for me last year after D-Day and it’s really cool to see you still around CC for all us applicants. thanks for your super inspirational post & how is peddie, by the way? :D

Thanks guys! Peddie is great…it’s spring break now  Wishing you all the best of luck…it’s just around the corner!

@laughalittle, thank you for your perspective and help! have fun on your spring break :)

I know this is a year old, but it strangely calms down your nerves to “crystal ball” your chances. I’m doing Hotchkiss, since that was my worst application by FAR.

Hotchkiss
Essay: Over 500 words, and didn’t even realize until after deadline and submission. Consequently, Gateway chopped off the end; the new answer didn’t even answer the question! 0
Profile: ECs shown are only 1-3 years old, since I forgot to put on my defining activities. 2
Interview: My interviewer scarcely took any notes. 4
Parent Statement: Some very nice things were said. 6
Recommendations: English teacher loves my writing style; math teacher can see the effort, but winces at the quiz grades. However, principal is famously apathetic. 8
Grades: Currently, courses are all in the Honors track; however, not on the most advanced track available. 7
SSATs: ~95 percentile. Won’t hurt. 10
Disadvantages: Only two words are needed for this; “Financial Aid.”

Result: A 2 out of 10 chance of getting in. :stuck_out_tongue: I admit that I blew this one.
