March Madness 2011!!

I’ve got 3 of the Elite Eight correct - beating out the WSJ’s model (they got 1 of 8 right with their “analytical model that factors in advanced basketball metrics.”

But I’m goin’ nowhere because I stuck with my SDSU Aztecs to go all of the way. Blind loyalty - I know I’m not alone in that character flaw, lol.

So now I’ll “go sentimental” and pull for VCU. Underdogs 'r me.

jmmom-- nothing wrong with loyalty. Last year I was still going for UNC and they weren’t even IN the tournament. :p

Peabody, let me be the first to offer my condolences on yet another Kentucky loss to UNC this year. They just can’t run with our front three. But, to be fair, our bracket is just ridiculous, honestly. I mean, look at who Kansas had to play and look at who Ohio State had to play. So lopsided, as usual. (I won’t even mention the bracket they gave Duke. I mean really?)

My dog Henry wants to thank the Butler Bulldogs and the UConn Husky’s for their help with his bracket. WIth an honorable mention to the Kansas Jayhawks and the Kentucky Wildcats. I am personally rooting for Arizona since they are the closest thing we have to a west coast team and Butler and VCU because I always like to root for the underdogs.

I want to see Jayhawks and Bulldogs!

VCU plays with heart, and I like that. They’ve had a good run, and I forgive them for screwing up my bracket.

However, Sunday is the time for that run to come to an end. This is the year for Kansas… I can feel it!

tx5athome ~ ah I see Henry stuck with his canine friends. I assume he would have picked the Salukis of Southern Illinois as well as the NC State Wolfpack :). I guess next year I will consult with Henry before making my selections!

My sentimental pick now is Butler! Go Henry!

Yep, definitely will contact Henry before I do my picks next year. He’s on to the canine thing. Way to go Butler Bulldogs!

Henry picks according to the mascot, whatever is closest to a dog. (dog>cat>bird>human>tree) etc… In the case of ties (ie Husky vs. Bulldog) we ask him which one he wants and say one is odd and the other even and depending on how many times he wags his tail, that is the winner. HOWEVER, we did give him all the 1,2 and 3’s in the first round.

Well, Henry must be feeling really happy now that there’s a bulldog & a husky in the Final Four.

Go UConn!

^^Especially since Henry is in first place in the pool right now!

VCU!!! I’m really excited for the players, coaches and fans. I’m in Virginia and VCU is the kind of school that often gets overshadowed by schools like UVa,William and Mary and Virginia Tech. This is great for the school!

NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO !!!

This is not okay…

Can’t believe Kansas lost!

I had Kansas to win it all, but I love a Cinderella story!

Does anyone besides me think the Kentucky mascot is really creepy looking?

I’m sick to my stomach! (sigh)

Everything about Kentucky is creepy. (That said, the Vanderbilt Commodore is pretty scary, too)

Go VCU! So happy for them.

It is the Year of the Underdog (I assume Henry always goes for the underdog because… well… it is always a dog).

Bummer that VCU and Butler go against each other. But the Silver Lining is that one of my beloved underdogs has to make it to the Final.

Bracket? What bracket?

jmmom, I agree.Too bad it works out that there’s no way it could come down to VCU against Butler at the very end. I’m pulling for VCU first, then Butler, then Kentucky, then UConn. Really hope VCU can go all the way!

I am sitting here in my KANSAS sweatshirt. So sad. However, what I love about basketball is that sometimes a great team has an off game and gets beat. It is just a lot more fun when it isn’t my team getting beat. VCU can really hit those threes.
