I’ve neen biting my tongue but since MOWC openeed the door – I thought the game was pathetic. I quit watching and flipped between it and DWTS and Castle. Every time I turned over, basket after basket was being missed, and it wasn’t just great defense.

Are they going to vacate because of Calhoun’s recruiting violations? At this point, maybe they ought to just start paying the athletes. At least then some of these poor kids would get some of this money, instead of only the parasites.

During this game, the ENTIRE score from both teams combined did not break the 100 mark. So, while you might be able to unconvincingly argue that it was Uconn’s defense? It sure as heck wasn’t their offense.

Can you imagine getting recruiting violations for a team that scored that low? It’s like going to jail for stealing penny candy. Dumb AND stupid.

Watching defensive games can be incredibly annoying, I agree. I’d just hope that both teams aren’t that terrible offensively in a vacuum

Also, I might be mistaken (I follow the Uconn women’s team way more than the men, partially because they don’t do dumb things like steal laptops, deal drugs, and have recruiting violations) but did the only recruiting violation have to do with Nate Miles? Really dumb to do all of that for someone who will get himself kicked off campus before ever playing a game. I mean, dumb anyway, but…

eirann - you’re right that the recruiting violations are from a few years ago & involved Nate Miles who actually never played a game at UConn. Because he never played in any games, no games were vacated.

Good defense forced Butler to take alot of 3 pt shots & made them alter their 2pt shots so they wouldn’t be blocked. Butler had also gotten alot of offensive rebounds in earlier games which gave them multiple chances to score on each possession. Yesterday UConn was the much better rebounding team.

^^Since that story, Nate Miles has once again decided not to talk to the NCAA & just wants to put it all behind him. He issued that statement before UConn won the championship. His credibiliity would certainly have been questionable.

Did anyone notice the PSA that Jim Calhoun did regarding autism that aired during the game. I assume that the script was approved by the organization, but it bugged me that he talked about the “fight against autism.” ???

Jim Calhoun has grandchildren who are on the autism spectrum & Autism Speaks is an organization he supports. He always wears one of their pins. I’d have to believe his script was approved. I didn’t see the PSA.

^^ And way to go, women! Usually the men’s title game is one of the most exciting sporting events there is, but I felt I was cheated last night so I watched tonight. Glad I did.

Our star HS female player signed with A&M…I thought it was too bad that she didn’t sign with Baylor…well, maybe not!

I wonder what you feel like when the team you signed with just won a national championship?

On the Jim Calhoun PSA, I was just taking exception to the phrase “fight against autism.” I don’t think anyone would ever tape a PSA about fighting against Down Syndrome.

After the NYT article came out, Nate Miles changed his mind about talking to the NCAA. He said he needed to take responsibility for his part in all this & just put it behind him. Have you heard any new info on this MOWC?

I think he’s since decided not to do so. That’s what the newspaper in CT reported. It took the NCAA years to investigate and rule on this issue. Nate Miles had ample opportunity to talk to the NCAA & chose not to.
