March Madness 2012

No but my husband wishes he had picked Norfolk State. We’re from that area but he really didn’ t think they had a shot so he picked Missouri instead. Oh well.

i was perfect today until the MIzzou loss. That kills me.

Well- they didn’t have a shot! Wow. So much for Missouri winning it all like 2 of my brackets say!

MOWC—ouch.

Aaaaaaaargh! Enough said.

I don’t even want to talk to S2 who said he picked Mizzou to win it all in his office pool. He cannot be happy now.

The Missouri loss was stunning. We needed a margarita first, and now we’re having ice cream. I have to admit that though I picked them to win, in my head I was prepared for them to lose before the Final Four. But not this soon. I’ve followed them closely this season, and it has always annoyed me when the commentators would dwell on the fact that they’re “small.” But it’s true that size makes their defense difficult, and that was a problem in this game. With another team, you could say “There’s always next year.” But most of the top players are seniors. What a sad night for them. The best thing is that Frank Haith turned out to be a far better coach than some people expected he would be. Here’s to some outstanding future seasons for him. And thanks to all of those senior players for a great season this year.

I have to say, too, that the loud Kansas fans in the stands in Omaha really got to me. I have absolutely no patience with any nasty sports rivalry (I refuse to go to Phillies games here in DC, especially after a direct experience I had a few years ago). It’s a game. Rivalries are inevitable, they can be fun, and there’s no reason to get ugly. I remember a time when you rooted for the team from your conference/league when your team wasn’t playing. My S says that during his four years at Mizzou, there was no way he would have driven to Lawrence for any game because it just wasn’t worth the ugliness. End of rant. And I’m going to root for Norfolk State, a real Cinderella team, for the rest of the tournament!

I think part of the problem with the Kansas fans was that there is a lot of animosity towards Missouri for jumping to the SEC. Not that that excuses bad, rude behavior. Now those of us in the SEC would like to give Missouri back and take Norfolk State instead! :)

Lehigh!!??

Don’t even care about my brackets anymore…this is too good…

OMG…

This is MADNESS, I tell ya!

That’s true MOWC, but it also goes back many years and is really overkill, IMHO. Rodney, since I now have no team, I can focus on the amazing surprises in March Madness!

And my other post was way too long. That’s what grief does to me.

Best 15-2 ever…epic

Wow!!! MADNESS!!!

Happy Tarheel on my couch right now. The only team he likes better than UNC is whatever team beats Duke.

Duke Lost!!! YES!!! I love seeing a team like Duke, arrogant when they win, which they do alot, lose to a team like lehigh.

2 number 15 seeds in round 2, this is unbelievable. Now if Kansas loses to detroit, this would be great, having three 15 seeds in round 2.

Go Lehigh! What a game that was ;-)

Lehigh ! Amazing game! Anyone have that one ???
BJ Bailey local high school star…went to Boston University, stopped playing for long time, transferred to Lehigh …and on historic team that beat DUKE! WOW

hey, I’m a very proud Lehigh alumnus, currently in need of resuscitation!! McCollum is the real deal…my goodness! Never liked Duke so this is really really sweet…

Heaven forbid! Let’s not lose our heads!!!
