March Madness 2018

Do we really not have a March Madness thread here?
So- here it is, even though we are well into the thing.

Who can’t love Loyola Chicago and Sister Jean? And the UMBC Twitter account was legendary during and after their game against Virginia. History was made.

I am winning both my pools right now, which could change, of course. Virginia losing hurt me and I also had Michigan State in the Final Four. I need Villanova to win today. I certainly didn’t see my husband’s alma mater, Texas Tech, going this far, even though I knew they are really good this year.

Anyone else still watching?

I was surprised there was no thread too. I have Villanova going all the way.
I have Duke in the Final Four so hoping they win today too.
A family member is a big Syracuse fan so it was fun to see them win a few.

I’m not in any pools, but am rooting for Loyola for multiple reasons (underdog, Illinois native, Missouri Valley Conference).

I’m a Michigander. My first loyalty was to Michigan State where H is an alma mater. My second must be to Michigan. The game against Loyola will be quite a game but I’ll look forward to it - and in the end either team would be a good win - but I’m rooting for the BLUE.

My bracket crashed and burned long ago…

I’m watching the Villanova game right now. I didn’t end up doing a bracket this year. No pool was set up here on CC and none of the other groups I had been in were doing it. I think I am enjoying it more this way. Loving Loyola Chicago. I have a Sister Jean bobblehead on pre-order

The left side of my bracket (really, more than half!) is TOAST! I’ve gotten on the L-C bandwagon, though–love Sister Jean. She has maroon and gold sneakers–one says “Sister” and the other says “Jean”! Players go over to her chair and give her a hug/kiss…So cute! AND a bobblehead!!

I have cousins who went to Texas Tech, so I’m happy to see their success. First time they’ve been to the Elite Eight! Should be a good second half…My husband is a UM grad, so my fascination with L-C must end since they play each other! I’d like to see UM in the final but my official prediction is Duke and Villanova, with Villanova coming out on top in a very close game.

Gotta love March Madness! If it doesn’t get your heart revved up, you must be dead! LOL!!

Gotta love it!

I went to UVA and in my bracket for the office, picked them to win it all. Ouch. H went to Kansas, who is still in it and plays Duke tonight. Rock Chalk Jayhawk!

I have Villanova to win it although I also had Michigan State and Virginia in the Final Four

I’m in Loyola country. Kid played as a youth with on of their kids. Really cool to see him on the big stage.

Been some good games.

I was surprised no thread either so thank you for starting. Really pulling for Loyola - went to a fun elite eight party last night. Always fun to see an underdog win! And I’ve gotta say- so glad Kentucky is out.

I know (about Kentucky) One of my friends tweeted last night, “So sorry, Kansas State, but you did God’s work on Thursday night knocking off Big Blue.”

Too funny^^…actually I really like the Kansas State coach ( Bruce Weber)- and I was happy to see them take down KY.
Ok, Kansas , Michigan, Villanova and Loyola it is!

Meeeeechigan!!! I brought up kids who ALWAYS pick Michigan to win, so their brackets are in fine shape (I didn’t do one.) Go BLUE!

Though my late FIL was a Villanova alum, so my H and I’s school could end up going against his father’s.

The Kansas-Duke game that went into OT tonight was amazing. I think there were at least six ties and 17 lead changes.

As a Marylander, I was very excited to watch UMBC make history. My son is friends with the coach’s son and my niece is currently a student there. It has also always lived in UMD’s shadow so nice to see them get some great exposure.

I’ll be rooting for Loyola here on out. Though my degree is from a different Jesuit school and I’ve never set foot on Loyola’s Chicago campus, I studied abroad at their Rome campus my junior year of college. An experience that changed my life, I’ve felt an allegiance to Loyola ever since. And who doesn’t love Sister Jean?

Rock Chalk Jayhawk! S3 was a student at KU during their last trip to the Final Four.

In this household, we are team Michigan all the way. Of course since they played in the West, we haven’t stayed up for any of their games this years.

I love the Cinderella teams and Loyola Chicago and Sister Jean are awesome. But the Duke Kansas game felt like the big boys came to play.

I will root for a Michigan Kansas final.

DH is a Loyola alum so he’s very happy they made it to the Final Four! And I love Sister Jean.

I’m a Retriever alum. Jeff Bzdelic was the coach when UMBC went D1. He has been coaching in professional basketball for 30 years. He was also the teacher for my phys ed credit at UMBC. The Retrievers have more basketball history than just the 2018 tournament.
