Love this time of the year!
My firstborn is a March baby so that year (20 years ago), I was homebound and watched March madness nonstop. I have been a devoted fan every since. No greater sporting event exists, in my book.
Since I have a kid at Kentucky, I feel contractually obligated to root for UK.
That KS State v UK game was painful to watch, and not just because Kentucky played so poorly & lost. It was a clunky game of fouls, turnovers, and missed shots, for both teams.
In contrast, I was delighted to watch the Duke v KS game. As @deb922 wrote, the big boys came to play. THAT was a game, and I was cheering for Kansas to knock Duke out.
I’m looking forward to the weekend!
I told DH yesterday that since Sister Jean will be in San Antonio for Easter weekend, some smart-thinking Catholic church ought to invite her to services on Sunday. Maybe they already have. I’m a Red Raider so my team is finally out, but I’ll cheer for Loyola. I think it’s very sweet how all those players come give her a hug after the game.
We watch march madness faithfully! So much fun and angst!!
Son is a UNC grad and a NCSU grad so our rooting for those teams was done early, so sad.
However, cheering against Duke is just as much fun, especially here in NC. Son has been to Hooters for most game nights when he can get off shift early. Now we are just watching for funsies, and for Sister Jean. Son’s GF’s father and brother are both Villanova grad’s so we are hoping for a win there. The year it was UNC and Villanova in the finals was rough. Hard feelings all around. UNC lost. But of course with them winning last year made up for it.
They have been able to attend some games while he was at UNC and after he graduated…had a blast.
This weekend will be a blast.

Prediction: Michigan vs Nova with Nova winning the title.
It will be interesting to see if Loyola can keep up the big men from Michigan. The UM Kid Wagner is the real deal. Maybe another Dirk Nowitski. And it looks like another prairie fire team at Kansas U. Bill Self is a heck of a coach.

I know this is about the men’s tourney…but the women’s final four is awesome! Overtime win for Mississippi State…outstanding game.

Both women’s final four games were nail biters…buy the UConn/ND one was a last basket win. Both teams were number one seeds…both fabulous. Not sure this was a huge upset!
But I’m really annoyed that the final game is being played on Easter Sunday…since we have a dinner on the later side.

It was a great game. Honestly I know they lost the game…but Loyola played well, and has nothing to be ashamed about.
