March Madness 2025, men and women

Just caught the exciting end of the men’s Alabama State play-in game and thought that we needed a thread sooner rather than later.

I’ll do my brackets tomorrow. Anyone else playing along?

Yep! We have a family bracket! The trash talking has already started.

ESPN reminded me that last year, my dog did better than I did ; ). We do a bracket for him solely based on mascots. He says “go Uconn!”

A welcome respite! The Lady Terrapins and men are both ranked 4th!
Go Mount St Mary’s! And Virginia Commonwealth Un(VCU)

And Drake.
But, I hope for a good showing by B1G.

I used to often take my kids to the Stanford women’s basketball games. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Ronald Reagan was the President (1988) when they last missed the NCAA tournament.

Go Blue!

Boy, that was a long run. I was surprised when I heard that during the selection show.

Well, my men’s tourney just got a lot less interesting, although now the intrigue will be who is our next coach! I knew the men wouldn’t be long in this thing; our best hopes always were with the women. :sign_of_the_horns:

Yeah, I listened to pundits and had Clemson going to the Sweet Sixteen. :grimacing:

We do not follow basketball, but D2 is a UCSD alumni so we had to watch the UCSD Michigan game last night. It started out slowly and UCSD almost pulled it off. We had pizza at D2’s house while watching. One of my young coworkers has a high school friend on the UCSD team and we all kept yelling “go Carter’s friend” at the tv. So proud of UCSD on their first time ever participating in March Madness. They came so close!

UCSD had a good game plan. They double-teamed Vlad Golden, one of Michigan’s 7-footers, and overplayed the passing lanes causing 14 Michigan turnovers and get the big guys in foul trouble.

Michigan dumbly fouled too much, getting their other 7-footer, Danny Wolf, in foul trouble, and then Michigan only shot 55% from the FT line themselves. A terrible game, but they eeked it out 68-65.

I’m playing in a small fanily pool (8 players) that my husband organizes. We have played for many years i’m currently in first place but that is unlikey to last long!

I don’t have a pool going…but so happy the Gaels came from a 12 point deficit at the half to beat Vanderbilt today! :tada:

Even if #2 Alabama will likely end their run! :upside_down_face:  :blue_heart:

BYU over Wisconsin, New Mexico over Marquette, and Arkansas over ST john’s - these messed with my brackets.
One of these may be a Sweet Sixteen Cinderella.

Could be The All The Way Cinderella.
