It seems to me that the hard work marching band kids put forward goes unnoticed in comparison to other major sports. But honestly, I’ve gained almost all of my leadership skills, academic values, values in general, determination, and perseverance through marching band and I feel like the activity deserves more weight than it gets

>implying marching band is a sport

lolololol

Unfortunately, you’ll find that to be the case with the arts vs. sports in general. My son is going to be a music major at U of S Carolina, and while they offered him a decent scholarship, it pales in comparison to the full ride including room & board offered to football players. I happen to be a college football fan, so I don’t fault the players - they make money for the school and the alumni want a winning team. They care less about the band and the arts, and while we all wish it counted more, at least it’s something.
