Marshall School of Business (Undergrad)

Does Marshall weigh the math section on the SAT very heavily?

According to every meeting I’ve had with them, they have always stated that they weight math highly in the decision process. However, I’m sure there are ways to make up for low math scores.

i hope not

Nice. My grades are garbage this semester, so hopefully my math score will compensate for my awful GPA.

Yes, for sure.

But no one here can speculate on what would compensate for what- too subjective for us.

Marshall also wants to see that you have taken Calculus AB or BC- not taking it would need some MAJOR compensation elsewhere.

I had a 3.5 unweighted GPA going into this year.

I took 2 APs last year, and I’m taking 4 this year.

I got an 800 on the math portion of the SAT.

I’m also taking AP Calc AB this year and got an ‘A’ in AP Stat last year.

Unfortunately, I’m gonna get something like a 3.0 unweighted GPA 1st semester this year.

Additional input about what? Your question was answered…

What are my chances of getting in?

I’m a white male from CT (deceptive username timez)

You haven’t really given enough information for us here to speculate on your chances. What is your entire SAT score? What school/major are you applying to? What are your ec’s?

Even if you do provide this information, I will tell you your chances of being accepted to USC right now- speaking for many of us here on CC (I know, very presumptuous of me…):

The mean GPA of admitted students in 2008 was 3.8UW. The middle 50% for SAT was 1960-2230. If your stats fall near these, and you have taken most of the hardest classes available at your high school, and have great recs, and have ec’s and essays that show your strengths and passions, and have maintained a continued level of academic achievement in your senior year, you will have a shot.

Good luck!

haha, lots of baizboll.

Goodness, What do you want us to say? None of us have any authority on whether you will be getting in or not. I’d say you have a pretty good chance with that math score, but once again I have zero authority. Leave it be, especially considering how much you have demanded attention in this thread.

Look at your high school scattergram. Your GPA is borderline especially your senior year with all Bs. However, USC does take into account of the strength of your high school.

That’s true, Columbia Student.

Hopefully, they won’t even ask for 1st semester grades.

And, if they do, maybe the 4 APs and 1 Honors class this year will make up for the grade drop.

cc411, weigh in homie.
