Masks

The Stark mask were ok, not my favorite. I also saw they were made in Vietnam and the sizes were not all the same. The black happened to be the largest, so my husband got that one. I wore one for the first time this week for 8+ hours at work. While I had machine washed them, I felt like it has a chemical smell. I have eczema around my eyes and had a bit of a flair the next day; may not have been due to the mask, so I will rewash and rinse twice and try one more time.

Oh, shoot! I just ordered a couple of Stark’s masks and they haven’t arrived yet. I was hoping for better reviews.

I did order one from Vistaprint and it came yesterday. It’s really nice! When I first saw it I thought it was child size but when I tried it on it fit well. I may get a couple more.

I love my Stark ones. Wore one all day today. It’s the only one that doesn’t ride up under my eyes when I cover my nose. I don’t like that they’re made in Vietnam (I missed that), but I may order some more anyway.

@patsmom The Stark mask are fine, just not my favorite. I am hoping after another wash the smell will disappear. Again, I wear mine for 8+ hours a day, so every mask has something I don’t love! My most comfortable mask has fibers or something that makes me feel like I have hair stuck between my mouth and the mask; still can’t figure out what it is. Doesn’t happen all the time, but usually toward the end of the day.

My most comfortable mask has a vent, so can no longer wear to work, even when I have a filter in the pocket. I see they now make them without the vent, so may reorder; I just hate spending the money again ($20), but for the comfort, I might.

I looked at the Bilio masks someone here recommended and see they were tested and found have a mean particle removal ability of 82% (compared to 95% for N95). Not bad.

I also found an Excell sheet in a link in that article that rates many different masks.

The top rated mask is a duck bill shape made from 2 layers of Halyard which filters at 94.6%-very impressive. Interestingly, they also rate whether adding nylon improves the mask rating or not.

There is a big range in how protective the masks are in this sheet and I think t
