OH BOY OH BOY OH BOY! So happy to see this–Leonard Bernstein scholarship! Congratulations Andison! Way to cap that gap year!!! Andi – you must be so happy. This is GREAT NEWS!

Oh yeah! yeah! yeah! Full tuition for Andison! I’m thrilled for you both. A great school at a great price… It took too long coming, but I’m so glad it is finally here for you guys!

Andi – So thrilled for your son. How fabulous to earn a four-year scholarship based on (among other things, we know, we know) musical talent! It’s the best.

My son just received half-tuition for 4 years at Santa Clara University (valued over $61,000). It’s the 1st answer from any of the schools he’s applied to–nice to have a school that wants him (mom & dad & auntie love it there–one hour from aunt’s home in SF). We did tour Santa Clara over the summer.

For what it’s worth, he applied & was accepted to the school of engineering. He has 2230 SAT, NMF, SATIIs of 750-800, weighted GPA about 3.7+, top half of his class of 240 students. Has taken 4 APs & gotten 5s and a 4. Taking 5 APs this semester. Eagle Scout & other ECs.

HI and Andi:

congrats to both boys!

HIMom and Andi,

Many congratulations for the great awards for your extremely talented and accomplished sons! I am thrilled for you!

Congratulations HImom!!

I have a very dear friend who graduated from SCU and was accepted to UCB’s law school and has done very, very well. She was top of her class and she said she owed a great deal of her success to SCU, and their preparation. She really loved her time there.

And the merit scholarship is FANTASTIC! WOW! Very happy for your son!!!

Kat

Another fan of SCU here. Congrats HImom.

Andison U Rochester Wilder Trustee Scholarship $10,000/year

Twin #2 - University of Rochester Rush Rhees Scholarship $12,000/year

Son got $6000 Presidents Scholarship at University of Puget Sound.

Yowza!!! It’s raining $$$ from heaven! Congrats to twin#2, andison, and sweetkid!

So wonderful to hear this great monetary news! I am thrilled for you all!
Andi, Cha-Ching!! Sweetkidsmom and twinmom, that is great!

Congratulations to everyone!

DD just received her merit scholarship package today from Texas A&M…totals $56,600. The Tulane award is slightly more at approximately $70,000…but A&M is a state u and their award makes a much bigger dent. Oh well…visiting Tulane this week, if D falls in love, then Tulane it will be.

Congrats Idmom06, sweethead06!

twinmom and andi,

Heck! Forget about the dorm room. Our kids could rent a house together.

As I type, S is up at Rochester for a four day weekend interviewing for the Renaissance Scholarship. It took him over twelve hours to fly there on Friday because of indicator light problems, high winds, snow, etc. The temp is 18 degrees which is the coldest weather my son has ever experienced.

He is having a ball. All the scholarship prospects being housd in the dorms are comparing notes on what schools they’ve appled to.

What fun for the kids. Hope your S continues to have a great time & everyone gets LOTS of money & into schools which are a good fit & where they can be nourished academically & socially. Won’t that be grand!
My son hasn’t been invited for any scholarship interviews or weekends, which is just as well, since flying can be pretty tiring & time consuming, with all their other senior activities & responsibilities.

Cami - (and Andi and QuiltGuru)
LOL
I’m so glad your son is having a great time and has arrived in Rochester safely. My daughter is off to Atlanta at the end of the month for Emory Scholars for a similarly (I hope!) fun experience.
Our three families certainly have a lot of overlap! (I think we have to get QuiltGuru into this conversation as well…) My guess is that at least one of your kids will end up with one of mine. My daughter has already ruled out Rochester … if she doesn’t go with her SCEA choice, Emory would certainly be a better bet financially at this choice. Then again, she won’t commit to anything until April 1.

We’ll have to compare notes on the final choices … I can’t even begin to guess yet as to where my son will end up - he’s still waiting on eight schools. Five to go for my daughter …
And you?

Congratulations Idmom06 and Sweethead06!

HiMom -
My kids keep mentioning flying to Hawaii - funny … as they didn’t apply to any schools there.
Then again, I’d like to leave all these decisions behind and take off to Hawaii too!

Now wouldn’t that be fun! twinmom I hope your d has a great time in Atlanta- at least it’s warm there.

Cami - let us know what your son reports back!

I believe UHawaii is still accepting applications. There is a campus in Manoa (on Oahu) as well as one in Hilo (on the Big Island of Hawaii). They have some world-class departments & tuition is really a bargain, even for out-of-staters. No worries about sleet & snow either!
