Masters in Economics

I’m finishing up my B.Sc in Math & Stats this December and I’m thinking of doing a terminal M.A (no Ph.D) in Economics (1-year long) in either UofT, Queens or UBC. I’ve done intermediate-level Micro & Macro courses.

Part of the reason I’m doing it is cause I would feel stupid without an advanced degree. Another factor is that I’m not interested in any of the careers that a math & stats major would offer (Mathematician, Statistician, Actuary, Teacher).

However, would an M.A in Econ be a waste of time because my math background is already solid enough, or will it open a bunch of new doors that a B.Sc in math alone won’t?

Any thoughts or comments welcome.
