Math for March SAT 2009

yeah -2 for me too so far…what is that going to be like a 760-770?

also does anyone know how to update the thread w/o pressing refresh every time…it gets pretty annoying

What do yo u mean without pressing refresh, how would u ever reload a page then. Ctrl+F5 also refresh on firefox. And if many people did get the pie chart and f(AB) q’s wrong, we may be in luck. But, lets not get our hopes up…

I did terrible on math… i usually get -2 -3 and sometimes 800s but today i misread a thousand times and like ****… lucky if i broek 680…

For the questions about the water filling up the tank, i’m pretty sure that it was 120 minutes and NOT 160 minutes. Here is why.

You have a small tank with a water level of 200 gal and a large tank with a water level of 900gal, right? The large tank pumps into the small tank at a rate of 2.5 gallons/minute. So, in order to pump 100 gallons, it takes 40 minutes because 100/2.5=40.

So, (increments of 40 minutes)
0 min= 200 gal, 900 gal(starting)
40min = 300 gal, 800 gal
80min = 400 gal, 700 gal
120 min= 500 gal, 600 gal******** < answer IS 120 minutes!!! not 160!!

160 is for them to equal 120 is when it’s 100 more than the other and thus 120 is the answer…

Would you say the March math was easier or harder than the January math?

can someone explain what the 4root 2 problem was?
and how to do the p% and x% question? thanks

oh my gosh
yea ugh
i hate the SAT
i already got the f(ab) wrong due to overthinking and i am pretty sure i got the tank one wrong because i forgot about them having to be 100 apart
:frowning:
■■■

Can anyone else confirm that 120min was the answer?

yes i confirm it’s simple do it yourself 900-2.5120=600 200+2.5120 =500 if i remember the question correctly.

it was asking when tank A was 100 less than tank B, not the other way around.

so it is 160.

yeah, delian’s right. the answer was 160.

Are you guys sure it wasn’t 900 and 100? I have this nagging feeling that it was 100… I dunno.

awww? are you sure? =[
darn it, these problems are too tricky. I probably read that question too fast.

i’m 100% it was 900 and 200
it’s still in there from my calculator

oh right delian… i knew i did 600 for a reason… i needa stop second-thinking myself…

it’s 160 no question

yeah, i got 120 at first then realized i had switched the tanks so changed it with 2 sec left in the section lol. close shave.

yea
it’s 160
i got 140 minutes for when they were equal
because i forgot about the 100
so yes, it is 160.

darn darn darn =[ =[ =[
sheeshh
-1 for me
blah

oh and the questions with the square in teh circle was definately pi!!
because the sides of the square are rad2, and there is a 45, 45, 90 triangle, so the two sides are 1(which is the radius) so piR^2=pi
