MAY 2005 SAT TEST – FORM ONE (verbal experimental)

yes. that’s right

what were some of the others questions from that passage?

zipcode: Yes. the volume was 3Pi.

what’s right? the question had to do with comparing a mirror to art… i forget the answers

^ oh I was just talking about the water and the cylinder thing.

i think it had to do with how they both display convincing, but deceptive images.

yes thats what i put…both realistic, but deceptive
for the first question in that passage…about why the author is critizing early critics, what did you guys put?

what were the other choices? i think one was induced analysis or something, one was something with visual stimuli, what were the other 2?

my name is an allusion to that song…i love the beatles

omg that is in the song!

lol sry that went way over my head…too much thinking today

Do you guys remember a question itt was in one of the shorter passages) that said what does the word in italics serve to emphasize? was it the distinction between the past and the present? or the fact that the future could NEVER be glimpsed. the former, right? The word was can’t, i think.

for placing too much importance on realistic representation or something like that

also, in the rabbit-duck one, what is the negative aspect of the “new trend” - was it the overly rigid way of artistic thinking? i have a feeling it wasn’t.

distinction between past and present for “can’t”

i put “distiction between future and past…” i think that “future is IMPOSSIBLE to glimpse is a little too extreme, since they talk about sometimes glimpsing the future…”
what about that question, “why are elections and blah blah’s mentioned…”
that question isnt fair…outside knowledge is requried!

victor, my essay took up all the room given. the 2nd page tho i had to write really small so i didnt run out of room. i used examples like my job (being a lifeguard) and how it serves people, teachers interactions, and enforces regulations to make things safer for others…i wrote about how it working prevents being idle and doesnt allow one to partake in bad things and the 3rd para i wrote about how it helps instill a good work ethic and also about habits…i drew off swim team examples and carrying over into everyday life.

i went with the distinction too, although im not guaranteeing that one

no, it wasn’t rigid thinking, it was that an artistic and psychological concept was ignored or something

I put that the negative aspect was due to the neglect of an interesting artistic and psychological problem - illusions.

my last sentence in the essay wasn’t finished becuase i ran out of time but it was my conclusion paragraph and i had already repeated my thesis and everything. will this bring down my score much? will it affect it at all? i don’t know what to think

elections and commencements because we can see more clearly into the future… not the one with “pronouncements” though… the two answer choices were similar
