MAY 2005 SAT TEST – FORM THREE (writing experimental)

So and so’s work was so ___________ of Louisiana, that (something related to Louisiana) seemed to _______ from the page.

For the guy who asked about the (1+r)/r it went like this.

x/y = r

(x+y)/x - given
x/x + y/x - seperate with common denominator
1 + 1/r - reduce x/x & y/x is the reciprocal of x/y so take the reciprocal of r

(r+1)/r - add together with common denominator

sqrt of 34 was a triangle diagram that had a triangle within a triangle, they gave the bottom (the hypotenuse of the large triangle as seven) and the altitude (which formed a side of the other triangle) as three

Does anyone remember what they put for the short passage question, “which of the following would be the best addition to the list of things that a cat would not be seen doing?”?

I put the one about chasing a mouse.

I thought it said “Which one would NOT be one of the things a cat would not do?”
Anyway, I put “hunt for mice.”

i remember —

juan was definitely 30
virginia woolfe was marginal
it definitely wasn’t redolent — it had to do something with “veer” off the page
the one with maudlin was like — the girl wrote a story and the critics called it ______ for its expressive sentimentality — maudlin was correct (i was gonna put candid, then left it blank — shucks)

remind me of any more that gave u problems —

I put

So and so’s work was so reminiscent of Louisiana, that (something related to Louisiana) seemed to veer from the page.

but veer doesn’t make sense, does it?

MattyB…

It definitely WAS redolent.

Redolent means suggestive or reminiscent
and waft:
1. To cause to go gently and smoothly through the air or over water.
 2. To convey or send floating through the air or over water.

It fits perfectly

No; redolent/waft was correct. “Redolent” means not only “smelling like,” but also “suggestive or reminiscent.” “Waft” means “blow gently.” The “veer” choice didn’t make sense because the word “veer” is awkward - words reminding the reader of Louisiana would not “veer” (“To turn aside sharply from a straight course”) off the page.

some random ones i can remember

panache was right with duplicity ast he first blank…

.the maudlin on was right because it said something about how the criticis considered the girl’s memoir maudlin because she was so sentimental about her memories and thas waht maudlin means…

i actually put the one with veer instead of redolent and waft i think the reminiscent and veer was right…

yeh it was lesson learned definitely.

ugh i hated the onew ith the great wall i cant remember now but i think there was one i was unsure for in that…can anyone remmeber any questions from it…it could ahve been the one that i put the answer to peoples issues in particular…but mayb not cuz that one isnt so hard

sensationalize was correct

so was thirty

median doesnt change

marginal for writer

there was dormant for some plants

implicit statement that wasnt explicity stated with both passages on life on venus…that theres no evidence of water on venus

also that ppls views are too narrow

cats hunt mice as a statement that wouldnt fit in like line 9 or something

for the mutiny one i can remember
he was punished later was the extra information of passage 2
the optimistic tone or whatever
not sure if i put that they would inevitably get punished or that he was happy he was correct or something like that
he didnt kno what his ppl thought becaus he cut off all relations with them

ill think of more later

the question was which of the following is LEAST compatable w/ the list.
