<p>Hey today this just happened and i need to a variety of opinions because i like to talk out my problems and i don’t like holding it in well here it goes i sadly found out i was graded unfairly this semester for my Japanese 4 class see for 1st quarter i had an 80% 2nd quarter 74% on the exams i had a 89% but my overall grade came out to a 79% and my teacher refuses to round up to a B so that C is gonna show up on my transcript and I didn’t take it too kindly because I applied early for usc and other colleges and with a C on my transcript they can take away my scholarships and my acceptance letter and because my teacher has been easier on other students in particular for example i was suppose to compete in my japanese speech competition and i had my speech all done and prepared but i couldn’t compete because my teacher wanted to give another student a chance because they’ve been complaining about it turns out that student drops out of the competition at the last minute but my teacher forgives her but yet she she refuses to round up on my final grade i spoke to my counselor about it and she told me that she has every right to do that to not round up my grade to be honest if you i disagreed with my counselor <em>(what if she was offered scholarships to a great school and studied soo hard in the library just to get a grade you don’t deserve if she was in my position she wouldn’t like her grade either)after helping out my japanese teacher after school and giving her the utmost respect and never causing a scene and not complain once and yet she refuses to round up my grade and wouldn’t let me explain my shcolarship situation so i told my dad this he was pretty *</em>**t and so now we’re sending letters to my college admissions officers explaining to them how i was unfairly graded and why i don’t deserve a C on my transcript *plus usc checks for senior year mid reports after explaining this part to my teacher she still wouldn’t round up so in my opinion i honestly think it’s the teacher’s fault</p>
<p>It sucks that you got the C, but I think it was fair. This is someone who has missed a higher grade by less than a half percent. It would’ve been nice of her to round you to a B, but she was in no way obligated to do so. Also, I think writing letters to schools about your C will make you sound whiny. If your counselor does it, then fine. But hearing you and/or your father complain about the C will probably turn colleges off.</p>
<p>Also, about USC, what do you mean when you say you were accepted early with scholarship? Doesn’t USC wait until Feb. to notify scholarship applicants and March or April to notify accepted people?</p>
<p>Yes, to the last question. I’m pretty sure that no letters have gone out yet about admission. Also, most definitely no scholarships have been given yet. They are not awarded until April. Nerdy girl, I’m not quite sure who you are, but why don’t you give us a bit more detail on the USC board, so we know about you. Also, periods are nice things to use. Just a hint.</p>
<p>I don’t think one C instead of a B will make a difference to USC on a midyear report after acceptance. You should forget about it and try to enjoy the spring of your senior year.</p>
<p>Would you agree if a teacher said that it would be fair to round a 90 down to an 89?</p>

<p>And I agree with goldentime who said that you should not send a letter that
- draws everyone’s attention to your C; and then 2. seems to whine about that grade.</p>
<p>Periods, commas and capitalization too I might add. I agree with Adad. A “C” isn’t that big a deal to your cumulative GPA, but whining about it is a big red flag.</p>
<p>You “applied early” to USC and got a scholarship? I didn’t think they add an early application process? And I agree with others - sending a complaint letter to the university will just make them think you’ll be complaining about their professors if it happens to you as a USC student. Not good.</p>
<p>Our transcripts have the percentages as opposed to just the grade, so maybe it will be apparent that you got a 79.</p>
<p>Last year USC had a cut-off (if memory serves) of Dec. 15 for merit award consideration. Guess this is why OP applied early…</p>
<p>Will they definitely take away your acceptance and your scholarship? I don’t know, I don’t think one C is that big a deal. I can’t believe you’d be punished.</p>
<p>unfortunately, that sounds like the teacher’s discretion. At our HS, a 89.9 is B, and that’s the way it is for nearly all teacher. One or two round up, but most do not.</p>
