McGill Acceptance Decisions Class 2023 (Entering 2019)

Has anyone applied to the dual major in music program (faculty program)? My son auditioned in early March and we haven’t heard anything yet…dual major is in software engineering and he really wants to go there…wondeirng if we need to change the double major to something less competitive…Thoughts?

anyone else still on RDP for arts?

Mine has been RDP for management (Bcom) for couple of months

@Singaporekid99 Last year Desautels got overwhelmed with applications and standards went up quickly from the previous years. I suspect the same is true this year.

Is there a groupme for admitted students?

I’ve been stuck on RDP for arts for at least a month. Being a US student, all my other schools have already given me a decision

I feel u

I suspect that Ivy Day decisions will create some movement with people accepting/declining at McGill. RDP for 2 months…!

RDP for 2 months in BSc Phys,Earth,Math&Comp Sci and BSc Biol, Biomed & Life Sci! Anyone else?

RDP for those same BSc Biol majors since Feb 6!

If you have been RDP for an extended period it is sort of an informal waitlist. McGill admits based on stats and it is top down. The closer your stats are to the minimum requirements the longer the wait.

@migratingcoconut yes there are facebook groups for every faculty and there’s also a whatsapp arts group

anyone think attending the local “rendezvous” is useful even if you aren’t admitted/haven’t heard back yet?

‘Further Review Required’ for BSc Phys, Earth, Math & Comp Sci since late February… McGill requested my IGCSE results alongside my mid-year report which I submitted straightaway, yet my status hasn’t changed since then. I’m a European in an IB school with predicted 45 points (HL Math, Physics, Chem, and Psych), and I’m honestly surprised they’re taking so long, but I think it could be because I applied for a scholarship or due to my passport country. The waiting is driving me nuts – I already have a great offer from another Canadian school and I’m just waiting for McGill to ensure that I don’t get a better offer before accepting the first one…

my profile was updated with a ‘Reference Letter 1’ received as of April 04, which I didn’t submit on my end. Thinking this is the one my counselor submitted for the scholarship. Is this a good sign?

My daughter applied to both Interfaculty, B.A. & Sc. and Faculty of Arts. She was accepted to Faculty of Arts but has been on RDP for a month or two.

If she accepts the Faculty of Arts by McGill’s May 1st deadline can she switch to Interfaculty, B.A. & Sc. later if she gets accepted?

Is it possible for McGill hold kids in limbo past the May first deadline on the student’s other Faculty choice?

McGill is a strange case. My son has got offers in Engineering from UoFT, Mc Master and has received Full Ride scholarship from NYU. The acceptance deadline for all is 1st May. He has been on RDP for more than two month now. Strange…

@RippDad yes it is possible for McGill to give answers past the May 1st deadline. Remember that Canada is a different country. Why should they be bound to the US deadlines  It clearly says on their website that answers for US students can come all the way to mid-May or even later.

@momfromitaly McGill does try to meet the US deadlines to the extent possible. I suspect that anyone who is still PDP would have been waitlisted by this point if they followed the American pattern.

I went to an informational session for McGill and an admissions person did mention that they do try to get all US applicants out of the way before the May 1st deadline. They also told me that right now they’re waiting on other applicants to commit to McGill or rescind their application so as to determine the # they can let in as well as establish the minima. I was also told that the waitlist wasn’t necessarily the end of the world as it does move along. I have been on RDP since the end of January (still am at this moment) and the process is indeed frustrating. Do not give up hope; the waiting will end eventually.
