I wonder why I haven’t been denied yet. My scores are less than a large portion of people who have been denied and I’m still on Review - decisions pending. Perhaps it’s because someone hasn’t gotten around to reviewing my profile yet.
ive been wondering why i havent been denied yet either honestly hahaha

@TomSrOfBoston I called admissions and it just is what it is apparently. I guess there was an abnormally high number of applicants and the standards were raised.
I have been stuck at the RDP status since early January now :(. I applied for faculty of arts my grades aren’t near the minimum though and my GPA being a 4.5, but my ACT score is kinda low. I have gotten into Toronto, UBC, and Queen’s but still waiting on McGill which happens to be my first choice. Does anyone know the latest McGill can send out decisions, I’m assuming before May 1st? It’d ease me just a little bit :).
I am hoping it’s before May 1st, at least for U.S applicants. I understand that Canadian schools don’t need to follow the May 1st deadline that U.S schools follow but it would certainly ease unnecessary stress as well as the cost of a deposit to another school.
I’m guessing McGill is also your first choice? Their process is so weird, I know people who already got in with much lower grades than the average and people waitlisted who have almost perfect scores
Yes McGill is also my first choice and 100% agree that their process is strange. I’ve been waiting for so long on this RDP status and all I can do is hope that they just at least tell me the decision, whatever it may be, so that I can move on accordingly
I will be curious to see the published minimas next year - so many of you seem academically qualified! If McGill doesn’t work out, I am sure you will be successful and happy wherever you go.
I know that McGill pays attention to the rigor of the HS course load. S1 had a lower GPA, but had 13 AP courses, and a load of Honours. Also went to a US public HS with a good reputation. We know of people with higher GPA’s who got refused, but had less course rigor.
This was in 2018, though. Sounds like the standards might have risen yet again.
Hey everyone, I applied near the deadline in january to McGill to the faculty of arts and sciences for the biochemistry programme. I am an international student doing the A-level curriculum and haven’t heard back from them yet so I’m starting to get worried.
A few months ago I received a notice saying ‘further review required’ to which I submitted all the documents needed. It had asked for a transcript of my AS results but since I don’t do AS anymore as we do linear a-levels my teachers advised me to submit a letter from the school explaining why I was exempt from AS. Since then I haven’t received any decision confirmations. Is this normal? Do they have a final date after which they won’t send out any more acceptances?
My stats also don’t seem all that bad so I’m not sure if it’s just that everyone has way better grades than me or if it’s something else.
GCSEs: 7As 3As
A-level (predicted as I’m in year 13): AA*A in chem, maths and bio
(haven’t done any entrance exams)
Thanks for all your help
xx
I have been on Reviewed-Decision Pending for Desautels since 2/8, should I be concerned?
why are so many of us still on that r-dp status?
Same is my son’s status. He has been on RDP since 2/10. He already has offers from UoFT, UBCMc master and NYU for Engineering. Mc Gill seems to be a strange case
Mine still says ‘Ready for Review.’ It’s literally April 23rd…!!! When will they get to reviewing it? Do I still have a chance??
@sublime411 I was in the same situation with AS levels, as there are only linear A levels now, and did send them a similar letter from the school explaining the situation, I think it was January, and got an offer in March. I guess you could ask them whether your application is complete, and then wait. Your grades are excellent, so I strongly think you’ll get in.
Refused today after waiting so many months. Good luck to everyone else!
Is Minerva “Application and Documentation Status” link the only place McGill communicates decisions? Or do they send emails? Been RDP since Feb. 6…
@gusrich2019 They do send emails indicating that your application status has been changed which directs you to the portal. So, yes, you gotta check the portal sooner or later.
@surferg127 I’m so sorry, but you finally got an answer at least, even though it might not be the best. At this point of the month, did they say they refused you because of space? Their terminology said they would specify why you got rejected
