Just checked again and I’m officially waitlisted, my second choice is Toronto and their deadline is June 3rd. Should I accept and hope by May 1st a spot becomes available?
@julrobo Accept your waitlist, and pay your Toronto deposit to keep that available. I’m fairly confident you wont get a response by May 1st if you’ve been recently waitlisted. BTW, Can I ask where your from and when you got switched from RDP to Waitlist? Because McGill seem to release these status changes regionally. Its fine if you want to keep it confidential
@rotmandesautels No it’s completely fine! I’m a Canadian citizen living in the states, and I was stuck at the r-dp status since early January and just waitlisted yesterday, hope that helps
@julrobo Was your SAT/ACT at the minimum?
@TomSrOfBoston I believe so, my score was always either a 30 or 29, I’m a pretty bad standardised test taker
Many out there still RDP?
Still on RDP, its a bit annoying, I might call Service Point since I have been on it since early February
Yes, still RDP and decision day is tomorrow for other US colleges… so it is “adieu Montreal…” Good luck to all!
Mc Gill is our worst experience. My son too has been on RDP since February. Wonder how this university works?
@bhopali McGill seems reluctant to officially put applicants on their waitlist. If someone has been RDP for an extended time it is a de facto waitlist.
Admission of Canadian students is based heavily on Grade 12 or CEGEP marks. Thus their decisions come out later than those for American and overseas applicants. At this point they are trying to balance admissions offers with their regional enrolment goals.
@TomSrOfBoston Thanks for the update. My son’s scores are quite decent. 35 ACT, 8.5 IELTS, 800 SAT Maths 2, 760 SAT Physics, 760 SAT Chemistry. 89.6% Pre board Grade 12. He already received Track 1 engineering offer from UoFT which this year had around 13000 applications for 800 odd seats (6% acceptance) in Feb itself. But at Mc Gill he has been RDP since Feb. You have a point on balancing regional enrollment goals with international offers. Waterloo that way is much better. Their engineering offers are rolled out every year in second week of May, so one is clear.
@bhopali I would be very frustrated, too.
Hi,
I’m a French student from a CPGE class. I’ve been on RDP for 2 months, and it says that the deadline for the results is on may 31st. Does it mean I still have a chance ? Thanks
So it this is helpful to anyone my son (US High school), who was RDP since February, was switched to “Waitlisted” yesterday for both his faculties (Physics and Bio).
He did receive an email at 9:35pm stating that a decision has been made, check on Minerva.
my son declined admission last night, it was a very very tough decision. Ultimately he was concerned about being so far away from D.C. when his desire is to work in D.C., so he chose a Virginia school that offers a semester in D.C. (JMU) plus a semester abroad. Good luck to all.
My deepest sympathy for everyone in this truly awful RDP situation.
And while I understand that a Canadian university has no obligations to follow our US schedule, a small step outside their bureaucratic cocoon would be enough to realize how badly they screw US applicants.
Something to remember when my DD will consider her options
waitlisted for both faculties (ba&sc and biomed life sci)
Ba&sc came out the day before decision day and life sci came out yesterday
act: 33 (34 superscored)
UW GPA: 3.8 (all honors&AP Courses)
Has anyone gotten a decision from Ingram School of Nursing?
I am a student from France and my Minerva application status has been saying Further Review Required since the end of March. All of my requested documents have been uploaded to Minerva and no new documents have been requested. Is anyone else experiencing this issue? I’ve called the Minerva helpdesk a few times and they tell me this is normal, but I am concerned. Normally decisions should be completed by the end of May for students outside of Canada and the US.
Just checked on Minerva and I have been admitted for the Faculty of Arts. I’m a non-traditional student (39 yo, born abroad but Quebec resident, pursuing a second degree). Good luck to all!
