McGill Admissions [re: SAT scores]

Hey, I sent a few application precisely in Bachelor Civil engineering , Bachelor of sceince , and Bachelor of commerce. I submitted my SAT along with my application and I just came to know that the last year’s cutoffs for those programs were 700 eng and 700 math.
However my Sat scores were 650 eng and 790 math does that mean it’s gonna be a big problem in my application or not? Is there a way i can go SAT optional after i have sumbitted my application?

If that is your real name, consider changing it to something more anonymous. How Do I Change My Username?

For engineering, or even for science or commerce, mathematics is going to be more important than English. Getting a 650 in English suggests that your English is good enough for you to handle engineering classes just fine. 790 on the math SAT suggests that your math is very strong, which is going to be very helpful in engineering classes.

I would not worry about it.

I do not think that I would consider McGill to be a safety however.

Many decades ago I did get into McGill with an English SAT score that was lower than 650 (but with a good math score). At the time it was considered to be my safety, but that does not mean that it would still be a safety today with the same stats that I had back then.

Thing is on Mcgills website the minimum last year cutoffs were 700 eng and 700 math so im below cutoffs for english which might be a big issue but ive already sent my application along with the SAT score

You can’t change your mind once you have opted to submit. They are required for Engineering and Commerce. Even if you are below the cutoff, the cutoffs can change slightly from year to year depending on number and qualifications of applicants since they are targeting a certain number of admits.
