Is McGill the “Harvard of Canada”? How well known are they in the US? (east and west coast)? Are they well recognized in Europe? How does their undergrad business school stand?
You will not find McGill referred to as the Harvard of Canada in any McGill publications or websites. McGill is the most selective of Canadian universities though.
McGill is well known in the eastern US. It is also well known in the UK and France.
Desautels has a very strong focus on international business.
elbarto, the only people I’ve ever heard refer to McGill as the Harvard of Canada were Americans. It isn’t perceived that way in Canada. Canadian universities have certain programs/faculties that are more selective than others but overall, Canadian universities have higher acceptance rates than those in the U.S. This is primarily because Canadian universities are public institutions and as such, the need for accessibility is evident. The selectivity in Canadian schools is not a reflection of the quality of education possible there. You can get a very good education at many Canadian universities.
