Meaningful employment?

Hi, Even though it’s near the end of the year, I’m already thinking about jobs for the next school year. But I don’t want to work in a brainless job, I would much rather have a job where I feel like I’m accomplishing something. As a high school student, are there any meaningful find any meaningful jobs, even if pay is just minimum wage? Or are we high schoolers stuck with accepting only low skill jobs?

I live in a rather small city (around 40k) that does not have a prosperous downtown area. also, I can’t drive (out of environmental ad political views).

Bump- any help?

Is there anywhere that you could work with children? I work with children on a weekly basis and it gives me satisfaction because I help put a smile on their face or teach them something new. Any job involving children is always rewarding (even if they are hard headed at times) .

So wheredo you work? Day care?

What about a paid internship?

@xsamurai: I work with a science program here in my county. Even though I do lose my Saturday mornings, it is something that I would give up to see that I am a factor in the younger generation’s lives.

The YMCA, perhaps? I know someone who did that and she enjoyed it.

I don’t care how brainless my job is, as long as it pays.
