So I noticed some graduates had medals while others didn’t. I know some items, like the stash, are optional and are up to the students to buy. However, can the medals also be purchased or are they merit based? For instance, are they rewarded to students with Latin Honors only? (Cum Laude, Magna, Summa?)

At my school, students don’t need to buy their own sash (if its even possible)… Those are awarded to us depending on which clubs/classes (CSF, biotechnology, health academy, AVID, etc.) we take.

As for metals… Students at our school can get up to two metals. One for being a top scholar (4.0 weighted GPA and above) and the other for just being a graduate.

Overall, I think this really depends on your school…

I think it’s pretty clear we’re talking about UCLA…

I think that you can purchase the medal as part of a graduation package. I didn’t see many students wear medals though, most common was the Class of 2010 sash. Latin Honors are indicated by the fourragere on the student’s shoulder. These are either rented to students or for purchase.

if you have enough money you can buy ANYTHING…and i mean ANYTHING
smoke weed everyday

The medal is just $10 and can be purchased separately when you’re buying your graduation gear online - it’s nothing more than just the UCLA seal, but it’s nice :)

why can’t the sash be part of the cap & gown package? that’s ********
