Meeting Another CC Poster IRL - Stories?

I met one CC poster IRL when we attended the same admitted student weekend. We have bumped into each other a couple more times on campus, but we also became FB friends. We live at least a thousand miles from each other. My house is open to her if she ever visits my city.

Though I don’t know if one of my other college mom friends, whom I’ve only met once at parent’s weekend, is on CC, she and her husband offered to host us if we ever were in their city. We did some college tours in their neck of the woods more than 2000 miles from our home, and, indeed, her husband and kids cooked us dinner even though the mom was out of town on business. To be fair, one of the kids is one of D15s college friends, so it wasn’t really some random meeting. We have also become FB friends. Any of them are welcome in our home anytime.

I’ve met about 10 CC’ers IRL - at the San Diego meet-up, and at MOWC’s race weekend. Both events were wonderful, and we had SO much to talk about!!!

These stories are truly impressive and speak volumes about this message board. I hope the board admin and worker bees realize the impact allowing us to mingle has created.

I too have met just one CC’er ( @toledo ) - my D1 gave her D a tour at a college and we met a couple of times in town. Hope you are doing well!!

I hope to meet others in person someday. At a restaurant, a race or better yet, BOTH!!!

On the flip side, I once had someone I know IRL recognize me on CC. We live in a small town

I have met several CC’ers from my S’s program IRL at school events or arranged meals and now we are FB friends. I’ve met a few others from CC in IRL who have kids in same major at different schools. One has become my closest friend and this past winter we vacationed together. We now share our parents and children. She has visited me and I have plans to visit her this summer. I can’t believe she hasn’t been a friend for ever. If only we lived nearby…

I truly enjoy meeting CC’ers, even if only for a cup of coffee one time in passing.

I don’t recall how I recognized them, but the girl across the hall in my DD’s freshman dorm was a CCer.

On move-in day for ds1, I met a kid who I knew from cc. I never told him, because it just felt so creepy and weird. He became one of my ds’s bffs!

Great stories! Sometimes it almost feels like dating to me. “Do I know this CC person well enough to suggest being Facebook friends?” LOL

So ‘when I am in the supermarket I suspect many fellow shoppers are actually on CC’ actually we probably were, but ours just closed. :frowning: I do tend to live rather out in the middle of nowhere however. We tend to travel overseas but some in country. Maybe someday …

I’ve met a fellow CC person in the grocery store. Our kids even went to the same elementary school

Hi all,
Bumping this thread to post a DC area meeting IRL with HImom and me, for starters.
We are meeting for lunch on Wednesday May 17th around 1230 somewhere on the Orange/Silver line in Northern Virginia.
PM me if you can make it (and any diet restrictions) and I’ll get you the details.
Very excited to have this opportunity.

Yes, I’m looking forward to putting faces to some of the fabulous folks I’ve been sharing thoughts and ideas with for over a decade. Wow, hard to believe it’s been so long!

Man, I don’t get in until the 18th! Have fun!

I am meeting a CC poster in Hawaii!! Cannot wait.

Any Philly area CCers up for a meeting?

I just met up with someone there last month, surfcity! We are from the HS Class of 2010 group and spent three nights together and had soooo much fun.

ETA: A third mom from the group was there on training, and she met us for a drink near Penn!

DH and I are meeting up with two of my favorite CC posters at the beginning of June for a sleepover. I can’t wait! We probably won’t get much sleep as there is just too much to talk about. This meet-up is definitely going to be one of the highlights of my summer. And, it will enable me to prove to our son that my virtual friends are not ex-cons in dirty underwear typing into the night in their parent’s basements amid mountains of junk food trash.

I just remembered that I met a fellow CC parent with a kid in D2’s entering college class at a reception during orientation. We’d exchanged a lot of PMs with info ahead is time, and looked for each other when we got there. Kids graduate next week – maybe I’ll see him again.

OP here - I met the fellow CCer for lunch yesterday and had a blast!

I have to admit, I did tell my DD (college freshman, 700 miles away) where I was going and the person’s real name in case I never returned. Of course she told me I was flunking Internet Safety 101 but I went anyway and was glad I did!

Now I wonder if maybe the CCer is going to wait to murder me at our second lunch???

Lol. I think the standard is 3 meet ups before murder.
