Mendoza (Notre Dame) vs. Wharton (UPenn)

Really great to hear! Congratulations!

This is really interesting. I haven’t heard of the “mendoza curve” till now, after some research it looks like Penn and Mendoza have very similar grading systems (~20% get A’s, average GPA of 3.5 ish per class/session). I was under the impression that Penn was super rigorous while Mendoza was more relaxed, but are they very similar? Can you speak more to that?

grading system doesn’t define rigor or collaboration. Why not reach out to each school and ask to speak to a student ambassador.

Personally I would emphasize fit (academic, social, etc.) over grading system.

There is also selection bias here of kids who pick business over other majors…not just how business school is graded…could be opposite conclusion…kids in business school don’t study as hard as they are off networking and building side hustle businesses as they think that matters more than a 4.0.

And they would be right.

Initiating and operating a campus wide reduce/reuse/recycle program involving food services, housing office, the administration, and city government has a much bigger payoff in terms of future employers than a 4.0. The biggest bang for the buck is finding an unmet need and going out and solving the problem.

 Agree ..If you want to go to med school or a PhD program, a valdectorian is probably useful. Not so much for getting a job in business…
