Merged thread to different section: no pointer left

When threads in different sections are merged, there is no pointer left in the section which does not have the merged thread.

For example, this thread in the Transfer Students section:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/transfer-students/2121458-report-students-who-transfer-from-community-college-to-4-year-schools-show-excellent-outcomes.html

is the merger of itself (originally had just post #0 and replies that are now numbered #20 and #26) and the following thread in the Parents Forum:

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/2121697-commun-college-transfers-at-the-elites-higher-grad-rates-than-1st-time-freshmen-other-transfers.html

which no longer exists, but its posts are now replies #1-19 and #21-25 in the merged thread.

However, there is no pointer thread (like the “Moved:” pointers for threads that are merely moved, not merged) in Parents Forum, so that posters who were following it there may not know that the existing thread was merged into the thread in Transfer Students.

So the request is that, if threads in different sections are merged, to leave pointer(s) in the section(s) where the merged thread is not so that posters who were following it in those sections can find it.

This makes sense to me so I’m OK with the suggestion.
