Told by whom? Releasing invites for interviews that will be on campus in the next 2 weeks, or via zoom? Trying to wrap my head around OOS families making travel plans/getting off work, etc. on such short notice.
The interviews will be on zoom this year.
Thank you. Have you spoken with someone at Pitt to get this information?
Yes it was in an email with an AC
I just heard from admissions as well that invites will go out “at some point this week.” Good luck everyone!!!
Thank you for confirming. Did they also say zoom?
I didn’t ask. Sorry. I will say they responded to email within 24 hr and I didn’t include son’s admitted student ID etc. I’m sure they realize I’m just a neurotic parent!
Did anyone get the Chancellors invite? A Reddit post says… they were sent yesterday.
What reddit post?
The poster who says they received an invite looks legit. BS/MD applicant, interviewed with Harvard multiple times, very few posts/responses, etc.
Interesting to see no other invite posts… at least here or in Reddit. I am sure there are a few folks who have Honors acceptance. Also, does anyone know if a student was given a merit scholarship already, can they still be considered for Chancellors?
Pitt has plenty of honors acceptances but Chancellors is another level. I’m assuming you’d need 1580+/36/4.0 UW as a bare minimum then all the extras in your application come into play.
I’ve seen past years where someone had already been awarded merit then was invited to interview, but I’ve also seen posts where there was no prior merit awarded and they were invited. Who knows!
Grow PA grant for Pennsylvania residents - anyone applying? We are full pay and it appears to be a non-income based grant up to 5K a year for PA residents (up to 4yrs) you’re obligated to work in PA for each year you receive the grant or the grant converts to a loan. Thoughts? Good, bad, ugly? DD applied and I figured we could turn it down if we aren’t comfortable with the terms but I was excited about the prospect.
thanks so much for posting this! we hadn’t heard of it and are going to apply now. seems low risk to me…if my kid decides to leave PA, it is likely because the opportunity is worth paying it back. odds are, she sticks for a bit to get started and that’s a nice help to the tuition at pitt or psu, which still isn’t cheap when you are full cash payer. thanks again for the shout.
Perhaps it’s just so rare that no one posted. My son was accepted early to Pitt/ Pitt Honors with 80k scholarship and was not invited. His SAT though was only 1520. We figured it was a long shot since so few are invited to interview but there is always hoping.
We are full pay as well. The PA grow grant does have an income limit of $175000. Its in the fine print must also maintain a 2.5 we will just qualify for this year so filling it out for sure!
Did anyone hear anything new about merit aid around mid-March?
i was told by my admissions officer that if we didn’t hear we most likely did not receive, and she gave me the line akin to “very competitive…only 20% of admitted students”…but it’s strange to me. we went to admitted student day and frederick honors events this past weekend, the folks i spoke with didn’t give a hard no to merit, and didn’t say if there might be more merit coming either. but to be fair, we didn’t sit with a counselor who pulled up our specific file. right now we are IS for pitt with zero merit but honors, and have two OOS programs offering honors and merit to make it more affordable than pitt …getting to the home stretch of decision making.
on reddit last year…this post indicated that after they gave out stamps and the other more competitive scholarships, they did another merit grant on april 1. maybe we have a shot still. hard to tell.
good luck to all. month away from commit!
This the email reply we got from our AO in early March.
“At this point, our scholarship funding has been awarded for all incoming students”… We were also told that there may be some reconsideration .. but told not to count it and if happens it might in the coming weeks. it is almost 3 weeks now since the communication.. we also attended admitted students events last weekend and basically the impression we got was that merit aid is mostly done! Tough call to do full tuition OOS.
