Congrats to both of you. Still hoping and waiting here….
thank you. hope you hear good news very soon!
Business school, honors, GAP law. 1460 sat 95/100 weighted gpa, small magnet public HS. She started a thrift store at school, marketing assistant to the principal, 300 + service hours.
Not really expecting anything for C26, but the admission letter says the committee meets weekly through February and merit decisions can come out until 1 March, and that some will receive awards early but others are only notified much later after admission.
Yes! Good luck everyone.
Has anyone heard back about an invitation to interview for the Chancellor’s Scholarship?
According to Pitt’s web site, interview notifications for the Chancellor’s scholarship will be sent out in February.
If you get a merit offer, does the portal show your COA?
The scholarship letter on the portal just shows the amount of merit awarded. You can estimate COA using info from this page: Pittsburgh Undergraduate Cost of Attendance | Tuition Rates and Fees
Note that we’re OOS; it’s possible that in-state students see something different on their portals ![]()
Received scholarship letter today. $5K per year for 4 years. 1500 SAT 4.0 UW, 4.8W. 7AP (all 5s so far) & 4 DE. Accepted to Business School & honors college. OOS It will likely be a no for DD. Can’t justify that price tag. Too bad. Really liked the school.
Admitted to Swanson on 1/5/26. We have heard nothing about merit aid. Does that mean my son was awarded 0 merit?
We are OOS so just wondering if we should no longer be considering Pitt
Posted upthread re: merit timing
If Pitt is not your top choice full pay, then it makes sense to start planning for another.
But they’re still giving merit for a few months. So it’s possible - seen OOS awards $5-20k.
They could come back and show love - but always good to be ready with plan B.
Thank you, I missed that in the long thread. Delaware merit came a few weeks after the accceptance- otherwise all other came with acceptance letter
It’s probably best to place it aside despite our son liking it on paper. Private CSS Profile schools seem to be more affordable for us then OOS public universities.
wish he didn’t apply to so many ( those application fees costs!)
For future posters, make sure you get on schools email lists. Many send waivers. We are 45 years ago but Pitt gave one for attending the online session.
Schools want apps so many will cover. Also, low income can always request one.
I do think late apps/acceotances at Pitt (like past November) likely have better odds.
Best of luck.
And yes if money is tight, please choose one you can afford, even if it’s not the student’s favorite.
Pitt merit never comes with acceptance, and it can take a long time to be awarded. My S23 didn’t get merit notification until months after his acceptance, but then he received the max merit award (20k). If your son likes the school there’s no reason to write it off at this point.
Agreed. They told us at the November admitted students day that it could come as late as early April.
Wouldn’t write it off but it makes sense to have Plan B. They sound like a late app and Pitt notes the earlier the better for merit. And it’s a budget family as the parent says the CSS schools will be less.
Decisions don’t need to happen until May 1st but it’s always good to prioritize your list, if you can - so you are ready when the time does come to make choices.
He applied around 10/23. Is that considered a late application?
They mentioned 6-8 weeks for a decision but it didn’t come until 1/5.
