The purpose of this thread is to provide an updated list of merit scholarship possibilities for students with a 33 ACT and top 10% class rank. I’ve focused on merit scholarships that would bring tuition (a) under $20,000 for universities with USNWR rank of 100 or lower, or (b) under $10,000 at any other university.
This is a list of universities that offer a HIGH likelihood of receiving a 4 year merit scholarship, most are not automatic merit scholarships. But according to the university’s net price calculator, website, or conversation with admissions office, it is established that the vast majority of students with those stats receive this award.
Note that many universities do their own GPA recalculation
Please add other universities to this list!

@bgbg4us - You’re right. I ran the University of Iowa net price calculator several times. With a 30 ACT or higher and top 10% class rank, the calculator shows a $10,000 merit scholarship.
I received my official letter from Temple today, and I was rewarded the Founder’s scholarship of $9,000 a year. If Temple was still doing the automatic scholarships, I would’ve qualified for the Presidental scholarship (33 ACT, 3.97 UW GPA, OOS). I guess with the 22 million dollars in deficits they reeealllyyy cut back on them.
a. Scholarship is marked as “automatic” or “competitive” (or other conditions, like “automatic, but first come first served”).
b. Links to college web pages and net price calculators (if applicable) are provided.
Many of the scholarships (or combinations) below will reduce the tuition amount to below $10,000.
Automatic merit scholarships:
TruMerit: $2,000 to $3,000, see table
Non-resident: $2,000 to $5,000, see table; $6,484 for active military, veteran honorably discharged in last three years, or spouse or child
MSEP (regional): $2,908
Legacy: $1,000 (in-state), $2,000 (out-of-state)
A+ recognition: $500
Missouri Scholars Academy: $500 http://www.truman.edu/admission-cost/cost-aid/scholarships/automatic-scholarships/
Scholarships are presumably competitive, since they are listed as “potential awards”.
Arizona residents:
Tuition is $10,478.
Scholarships up to $10,000.
National Scholars scholarships of $16,000.
Non-residents:
Tuition is $25,458.
Scholarships up to $14,000.
National Scholars scholarships of full tuition.
Western Undergraduate Exchange scholarship of $4,684.
Room and board and books are estimated at $13,378.
I got the full-tuition scholarship with a 34 ACT. From what I see on the other threads they have been giving out a lot of the $9000 scholarships to scores that would normally get much more.
All Presidential awards I have seen posted (which is only 2) are 34 ACT. The 33s or lower only got the $9000.
I was looking at the Temple Class of 2021 thread and I saw someone get the Provost scholarship with Temple Option. Do you know how that affects an applicant’s chance of getting the bigger scholarships?
