MFA Film & TV Acceptance rates

Okie dokie, here is a list of some widely discussed colleges with programs in MFA film. Some schools post their stats on Petersons in great detail while most just group all of the sub-catagories together under ‘film’.

The NYU numbers are incomplete and I’m just listing what petersons.com has on their site.

This list is meant to give students a sense of what their odds might be when applying to these programs. Lower percentages do not correlate with better programs.

Thanks for the listing, Wheaty. What year do these numbers come from?

Here’s a link to a local PBS program that spotlights student films. You can watch the winners from last year, representing a few of the SoCal film programs listed above. I believe submissions are only open to in-state university film programs, but might be a way to check the sort of work coming out these schools for those interested. I think they are mixed (MFA, BA, etc) degree students.

Great info… thanks!

Madbean,

The source of this is petersons.com but I don’t see any dates listed on their site. The data looks very current to me and I would guess it’s based on stats from enrollment from Fall of 2010. I say that because they list some programs that just came into being last fall like:

University of Southern California - Art and Curatorial Practices in the Public Sphere
52 applicants, 37% accepted, 9 enrolled.

2010 was the start of this program in the Roski School of Art.

Also Petersons refers to USC’s College of Arts and Letters as “Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences” and this name change happened this past Spring if I’m not mistaken.

So I can’t be 100% sure but the data looks very fresh to me.

Best,
Wheaty
