Michael Brown, hero, villian, who he says he is?

http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1103003,00.html

some questions about his honesty will arise from this, what do you think…just smoke, is he the fall guy, or was he taking money for a job he couldn’t do under false pretenses…was the white house in on this?

Res ipsa loquitur

Thanks, CD. I just learned a nifty new term!

CD:

That’s the best verdit I’ve read.

The beauty of the term, of course, is that each can make of it what they will! LOL

Translation please?

The thing speaks for itself. CD is right, one can interpret it as one wishes.

This one is just to easy for me…

Just heard he is history…

RES IPSA LOQUITUR - Lat. “the thing speaks for itself.” Refers to situations when it’s assumed that a person’s injury was caused by the negligent action of another party because the accident was the sort that wouldn’t occur unless someone was negligent.

Michael Brown is returning to Washington and is being replaced ‘on the ground’ by Vice Admiral Thad Allen. Apparently Brown is not being fired but it’s probably only a matter of time until he steps down.

Any bets where he will get his next job?

Appropriate. Now…will we see the (equally appropriate) impeachment of the Louisiana governor? Will the media even care?

Writing press releases for you, CGM?

Halliburton?

What about the guy who hired such a person…do they have any accountability?

We heard for days how qualified this guy was, his resume on his own website was flawed, to say the least. And even Bush, says, good job Brownie.

Any accountability of how these people get their jobs? Or we just that one slide.

And, many misstatements were told by the Administration about the LA Gov actions- the proof is coming out

Why did Brown take 5 hours to ask for a measly 1000 troops?

And it better not just end with Brown- much more needs to be looked into

Having a port as important as this one neglected by the FEDS on so many levels is astonishing

Homeland Security- nah

Mr. Brown was/is a classic example of the “peter principle” having risen to the level of his incompetency. But, just last week the Prez said “Brownie, you are doing a heck of a job”.

Gee, who’s to blame here or the better example of old peter’s principle.

Students take note! Several times the question has come up about stretching the truth or outright lying on college applications. Do the colleges actually check? How do they know? I always like to point out that even if the exagerration, or fabrication is not detected by the college, it stays on your record forever and may eventually get picked up by the FBI background check years later when the former student is appointed to a critical national security post by his former roommate at Harvard. Well, here you go! (or by investigative journalists in a situation like this)

NJ-excellent point. This issue has been in the news recently with a few very high profile football coaches who lost their jobs over their “fibs”. As they say, this will go on your “permanent record”.

Chertoff is live on MSNBC saying Brown is off Katrina.

He should be off FEMA.

This is going to sound naive, but how does someone who is plainly unqualified for such a crucial position justify to himself taking it? Didn’t he feel at all responsible for what might go wrong owing to his lack of knowledge or competence?

That part is mind-boggling to me.
