Nrdsb4, That’s terrific!! Did your husband do this on his own or did you drop a nice, but not so subtle hint?

^^^^Awwww…okay, I sent him an e-mail saying “if the afternoon of __________, 2010 (my birthday) finds you mulling over what to get me before you have to be home for dinner, here’s a web site which might help you out…”

And I provided a link to Michael Buble’s tour schedule.

I mean, I love massage gift certificates, but sometimes your ear needs a little tender loving care, too…lol.

So I guess he decided to go ahead and take the hint a few months early!

Michael Buble puts on a great show!!! I wasn’t that into his music but my 16 year old daughter loves him so I got tickets for his show this past March. We both had a great time-the audience was all ages and plenty of men too. Definitely a splurge but I am so
glad we went.

Wow, shrinkwrap, I’m impressed!
I’ve been a big MB fan for about five years, and have three of his CDs. I love, love, love the musical arrangements on his albums, too. I’m an absolute sucker for big band.

I played some of MB’s music for my brother, who is the drummer for the Navy’s Jazz Commodores. He’d heard of him before, and after a few tracks, said he was “underwhelmed” by Buble—said MB was "lacking in vocal depth. Say whaaaa…? My brother much prefers Harry Connick, Jr. ( I have a couple of Harry’s CDs, too. But he doesn’t send me over the moon the way Michael does.). Of course, in my brother’s book, nobody beats the “Chairman of the Board”. And he’s also pretty big on Tony Bennett, whom he’s seen in concert. I was always a big fan of Mel Torme, personally, and went into mourning when he died a few years ago.:(

Wow, all these young people who are into Michael Buble give me hope for the future of popular music in this country. My kid is into “death metal” , so he’ll be of no help—LOL!

Well, you’ll be happy to hear D2’s response a couple of weeks ago when I texted her, asking her if she wanted to go see Tony Bennett with me this summer when she’s home. Her response: DUH!!!

But she’s a music geek and pretty much likes everything, well, except country and most rap. Even loves opera (of course she’s also a music major).

I have known about Michael Buble for years, but I was totally shocked when I heard his “cross-over” single being played on my 18 year old son’s iPod. Now, THAT’s cross-over appeal. :D

Isnt he engaged to David Foster’s daughter?

I did not know k. d. Lang until this olympics. I discovered a band called Augustana today. Sometimes if you are not into the music scene, some stars just pass by.

I went to the Michael Buble concert this weekend. We had a wonderful evening. He was relaxed, very funny, and in wonderful voice. He has some fabulous musicians in his band, and I love seeing a young singer who dresses up to perform for his fans. Just a nice retro touch, I guess, to wear a coat and tie.

His opening act was almost as enjoyable as his own set. Naturally 7 is an a cappella group like I’ve never heard before. I was thinking “well, they’re not really a cappella-they have a drummer and a base player.” You could have knocked me over with a feather when each performed a solo and there is actually a guy who “sings” the percussion parts!

Fantastic, really fantastic.

My D “sings” the percussion in her a cappella group; not nearly as well, I’m sure. I think they call them the “beat boxer”, or something like that.

^^“Beat boxer” is correct. I learned that term from my daughter when she told me we were lucky to get to see a performance by a particular acapella group at her college because they had the best beat boxer on campus.
