For one thing it would be a semi legitimate way to get around the 22nd amendment.
Although I never agreed with most of her and her husband’s ideologies and policies, I did find her an interesting woman and I thought they were a lovely couple.
Along just these lines:

I just she and her husband are excellent orators. I enjoy listening just to listen to both of them.
Yes - both have made compelling, stirring speeches. We were lucky to have them as President and First Lady.
Very smart, highly educated. I hope she finds something really extraordinary to partake in. Like running an outstanding foundation of some sort. I wonder if she is even remotely interested in practicing law again. It will be very interesting to see what she and her husband become involved in.
She hasn’t practiced law since 1993, well before Barack entered public life, so I doubt very much that she would return to the law. She spent the bulk of her career in local government, academia, and hospital administration.
They are both amazing public speakers and highly motivational. It will be interesting to see where they turn their many talents towards.
We unfortunately will not see their likes for the next four years. Intelligence, grace and a true respect and admiration for the immense responsibility they held. Nope, that’s a long gone story for the next four years…
The Obamas will be sadly missed. Grace, dignity and class, start to finish.
Between her speech and Barack’s speech the other night, I am so overwhelmingly sad that the 8 years are coming to a close. I look forward to their continuing voices in the years ahead in whatever paths they take. I shudder about the turn of events and what we can sadly look forward to or expect in the next four years.
I’m going to miss them both terribly. Especially after these last two days. What a contrast.
Going to miss the Bidens also. Watched Obama awarding the Presidential Medal of Freedom to the VP today. Very touching.
Yes. And Dr. Jill has been a wonderful Second Lady.
^^I loved that story about her hiding in the overhead luggage compartment on Air Force 2 to scare the staff - hilarious! And the fact that she has been one of the rare “first ladies” (what do they call the VP’s wife??) to keep her day job.
Oops, “second lady”??
I don’t remember another first lady that was so ‘cool’ and connecting to the younger generations. I think she did an outstanding job bringing attention to her initiatives. They both have a great sense of humor which I will really miss.
Let’s be honest here: as the first black First Lady, the burden was much greater on Michelle Obama than on her predecessors. She bore it with grace and strength. And being a thoroughly modern woman, she added intelligence, humor and a down-to-earth quality we rarely see in public officials. It didn’t hurt that she’s a knock-out who rocked evening gowns.
Melania, too, will look great as a First Lady. But the meaning of Melania is altogether different from the powerful meaning of Michelle Lavonne Robinson Obama. As my 86-year old father-in-law said, we’re lucky to have lived to see the likes of the Obamas in the White House.
We are indeed, katliamom. I’ve never felt this way about a departing president and first family before, regardless of who was following them. It feels like grief.
Oh my gosh… I heard part of it on the radio, then saw the end on the TV, so I went back last night and watched the whole video. I watched, over and over again, the 14 minute mark, when Joe realizes what’s about to happen. Again, how the man has survived with so much tragedy in his life, and soldiered on, befuddles me. He deserves nothing but happiness for the rest of his time here on earth.
