Michigan State EA Decision Notification

No need to apologize!

Now that it’s been brought up, I’m now wondering if test optional candidates are being offered Honors College invitations and Honors College scholarships? Maybe you don’t actually need a 1500 if you’re test optional? Hmm …

Do you get an invite for the honors college or do you have to apply for it?

If you meet their threshold, you get an automatic invite. So far, everyone posting has been an automatic invite.

But, you can apply for consideration if you don’t get the invite - I think you need to write an essay (information is on MSU’s website).

Ok, I would love to learn if test optional folks are getting Honors College invites.

Do we get direct admission to the business school or do u have to wait for a semester or 2 like Indiana?

See here. The language seems to imply you have to accept in 2 weeks if they offer direct admission. Earliest it will come in January.

My S22 applied with no scores and received $15k OOS (CA) + $5k HC + $3-5k study abroad. So excited for him… almost gets him there!

Those who have received oos scholarships along with study abroad, were the honors college scholarships with those on the same page? Just curious if my daughter will still have a chance or if they were all posted at the same time?

All on the same page in this order: oos, honors, study abroad.

In our case yes. Everything showed up at once (Ohio Spartan Grant, HC scholarship, Legacy and Study Abroad).

Our timeline was:

Oct 5: Application submitted
Nov 10: Accepted
Dec 9: HC invitation
Dec 14: Scholarship info

Same for my son. All on same page and released at same time

My daughter applied test optional, she meets all the requirements as far as I can tell to be admitted to the honors college, but has not been invited.

Did everyone get an email today notifying of an account update? Is this referring to scholarships? Like everyone else we saw this yesterday but today there is an email and We don’t see that anything has changed.

Yes. All on the same page:
Non-resident scholarship: $15k
Honors College scholarship: $13k
Study Abroad scholarship: $3k-5k

My daughter’s stats:
3.96 UW GPA, 4.6 W GPA, 33 superscored ACT (32 not superscored)

Yep, it was referring to the scholarships.

My S22 is in-state and got the $1500 resident scholarship. He was accepted to Honors a few weeks ago, but no Honors Scholarship. He submitted a 1510 SAT, so not sure about that 1500 SAT threshold for Honors scholarships (or we are missing something, but it seems people are seeing the honors scholarship on the same page as other scholarships).

Huh. The 1500 comes from me messing around with the in state NPC - a score of 1500 garnered the scholarship. Under 1500 did not.

Sweet! So you CAN get admitted to the Honors College Test optional! And get a scholarship! I’m happy to be wrong!

Interesting, and thanks for the reply -I hadn’t used their NPC but just did. And it shows the $5000 honors scholarship. We will look again, and perhaps inquire. That would be a very happy surprise!

Same here. Got the non-resident scholarship and the study abroad, but no mention of HC.
