D22 received the in state residents $1500 scholarship. Which is actually a pleasant surprise. I was not aware of any auto merit money for residents besides the $5,000 Honors College State scholarship.

I think this is how it works

• 1450 SAT is the threshold for Honors College admission
•1500 SAT is the threshold for Honors College Scholarships

But I can’t figure out what generates the $1500 instate residents scholarship. Is it the same threshold that garners the OOS $15,000 award?
Anybody know?

Has anyone seen any info on financial aid other than scholarships?
My daughter only got the $1k in state scholarship. Probably because she didn’t submit scores.

On MSU’s website, they said that financial aid should come out in January.

Yes, my son got the $15k while applying without test scores. He had a 3.71 UW through end of junior year and applied test optional. We’re pretty happy to get the amount that on the chart is associated with an SAT score a couple hundred points higher than his initial unreported score.

Thanks. Quite expensive for OOS. Got $10k scholarship, need more.

We got $15k non-resident scholarship without scores. Very excited!

I found this on MSU’s website …

*MSU Michigan Resident Scholarship

The MSU Michigan Resident Scholarship designates award levels for in-state students based on high school GPA at the end of junior year. Scholarship values range from approximately $500 to $1,500 annually for eight semesters. In-state students who apply to MSU as a freshman are automatically considered. Scholarship recipients may also be eligible for additional merit-based scholarships at MSU.*

So the residents scholarship has nothing to do with test scores - just GPA at the end of junior year.

My daughter also got $15k oos scholarship plus $1,250 red cedar alumni scholarship and $3k-$5k study abroad. She applied without test scores. A definite contender now! We are very excited!

Lots of schools award merit based on unweighted GPA. Taking tough classes can help with admission but not merit …

I got an 18k per year scholarship (International Student), just wanted to know does MSU have a particular deadline for people to accept this offer as I got a scholarship from another uni, and they said I have to take their offer by the end of January for my scholarship to be eligible.

Does an invitation to the Honors College come with any financial benefits?

If you accept the honors college, you get $5000 if you are instate and $5000 or $13000 if you are out of state.

That’s only if you have a SAT that’s 1500 or above.

My D22 was invited with a 1460 (think the threshold for an Honors College invite is 1450) and only received the $1,500 residents scholarship based on GPA.

Meant to say that they had a chance, sorry.
