Congrats! Could you please, if you don’t mind, share stats (SAT/ACT, AP etc).
Thanks for this. Just ran the numbers and it came out with the OOS cost being about $60k, which is about $7k or $9k higher than what I had seen posted in other places.
Oh no! I need to run the numbers again! A large (relatively) increase in COA will definitely change things for my S22. Thanks for sharing!
I do not believe my son plans on attending Michigan State, but if someone has a child that will be attending it might be worth calling someone and asking if those numbers are real. I ran them again today and have more precise numbers. The actual calculator oos tuition increase was 8.1% for our income level. I believe that Michigan State tries to keep the increase down for families that make less than $100,000 a year.
That 8.1% translated into $2400 more than the 2% increase we were expecting. Also of interest was that the board numbers had not changed from last year. With the high rate of inflation on food items, I do not see how any food provider to any college cannot raise their prices. They don’t have enough margin spread in their contract bid pricing to absorb the inflationary spike. What I suspect is that the board numbers at all institutions will increase, and I would think it will have to be 3-5%. Either that or the schools will absorb the increase and cut from their budgets to make up the difference.
Anyone received HC invitation after Dec12th?
Wondering the same
I was invited to the honors college and I applied test optional. I am in-state and have a 3.91 gpa
The acceptance wrapped in the flag came today! The letter was dated 12/14/21 … (today is 12/21/21).
Did your daughter have to wait a full 12 weeks?
My daughter received her acceptance email today. In-state, 3.5 UW GPA, 26 ACT, 1210 SAT. She submitted scores to counteract some lopsided grades.
Although her stats are right down the middle for an in-state student, the MSU took the longest to respond. She is so happy and relieved. Her high school sends a small handful of students every year - usually the really engaged and active students, not necessarily the academic superstars.
I got 21k per year and 3k-5k study abroad scholarship. (INTERNATIONAL STUDENT). But still waiting for Honors college. Should I apply separately for HC?
Just got the invite for the Alumni Distinguished Scholarship Competition in the mail!
My daughter is hoping to get an invite for the test. She got her Honors College invite a few weeks ago!
What were her stats?
When did she apply?
Nov 1 for the EA cutoff, but she checked rolling admission by mistake. A classmate with similar stats also received the admission email today. Her friends with higher stats had already been admitted.
Does it have a green circle on the front of the envelope that says “Exclusive Invitation Inside!”?
I just checked the mailbox and D22 has some MSU mail today, but she’s not home right now …
Yes
Yes mine did. She applied in august and didn’t find out until mid November.
4.2 GPA, 1480 SAT. 8 APs and good ECs.
