We did that for another school too. I guess it’s worth signing up so the option is there.
My daughter applied October 9 in state- weighted GPA 3.54, test optional, lots of EC. She is looking at criminal justice has not heard yet
She has 2 AP’s and 2 honors classes
Do you think this is necessary at MSU? Can you share which schools are first come first serve. We have heard this is the case at U of AZ.
For us it was Alabama and Ole Miss. Every school is different, but the college account is where you can find the most specific info once you’ve been accepted. We still can’t access the MSU one though.
Did you put housing deposits down at both ole Miss and Alabama? We did for Alabama bc I think more likely to go there than ole Miss but not 100% sure. We didn’t do it for ole Miss. unsure if that’s a mistake
Last year for MSU, some kids didn’t put a deposit early and didn’t get housing at Lyman Briggs (Holmes).
This year MSU is offering a guaranteed acceptance to MI residents applying to residential colleges (min GPA applies I think), so there might be a little overcrowding or waitlists at Lyman Briggs, JMC and RCAH. But I am just speculating :).
MSU enrolment has been up since COVID and test optional, but if you are not applying to residential colleges, I am sure you’ll be fine to wait.
Yes, I had a harder time doing it with Bama bc of also having to pay the enrollment deposit. I know part is refundable. Ole Miss was only $100 so figured worth the peace of mind.
Hmm we applied to JMC so now I am concerned. Might be worth putting housing deposit down.
Dont you need to sign off on Common App that you will not enroll at more than one school?
No, that’s only for ED, a lot of kids will enroll at a school if they’ve been waitlisted and are waiting on a top choice, just in case it doesn’t happen. Unfortunately you do lose the deposit if you change your mind.
We received an email yesterday from the admissions office noting that while they are reviewing our application we should check out her school and directed us to the program she is applying for- has anyone else received an email like this?
We were finally able to get in with the NETID. Nothing in the inbox though.
For other accepted students - has anyone gotten an invite to the honors college yet?
Thank you for posting this! She was able to get in too!
Thanks so just to confirm, you log into the NETID for further school communications even if you are not yet certain if you will the accept admission offer?
Yes, correct. That’s what the instructions say to do. We haven’t accepted anything yet. Waiting on Honors College info.
Thanks!
I think our kids must be applying to all the same schools bc we are in all the same feeds so far Michigan State, UMD, and Delaware
That is too funny!! Well, good luck to both our kiddos!!
S25 received his Honors College invite yesterday, including an additional scholarship, Professorial Assistant opportunity, and notification that he would be invited to the scholarship competition weekend that takes place late Jan/Early Feb. He’s pretty excited about it!
