was this in his regular email or was this through the NETID email? Just wondering if my son is missing communications. Thanks.
He got an email in his regular email, stating he had a message from the honors college. I believe the next step was to login to the admissions portal to see the information.
Thanks for the clarification. When did he get accepted? I read somewhere that the honors college invite comes 6-8 weeks after the acceptance
He applied Sept 8th and was accepted October 16th I think? (I posted his stats up thread).
Hi my daughter applied 11/21 oos for communications- we havenāt heard yet. She has 4.0 unweighted test optional with lots of activities and work experience. Hoping for merit. We havenāt visited yet- what is the campus like? I know itās BIG!
Our impressions are that it is large yet still felt walkable. Itās beautiful with plenty of trees, older buildings, and green space. It gives a comparable feel to other larger midwestern land-grant campuses that arenāt in major cities. So, more like Iowa State, maybe a bit less like Wisconsin-Madison? (I realize that the whole metro area with Lansing is a bit bigger, but the East Lansing area specifically really felt like a college town!).
Thank you- if the merit makes it doable we will come out for a visit- I have been to Madison but not Iowa state- we are from oregon. Sounds like they have good meal plan - the program there is highly ranked for communications so that is what led us that way/ also wants big football school and spirit
We had a chance to eat in the dining hall on our visit, and the food was very good! They even had sushi, which seems very fancy to me!!!
Aside for the obvious (ie, weather), how would you say it compares to u Alabama? I know msu is ranked much higher - has anyone been to both campuses? We havenāt seen either in person. Just wondering the overall differences in āthe vibeā of both.
D25 received Honors invite 11/3 with an email first. Received additional merit money and invite to alumni distinguished scholarship competition 1/31 or 2/7. (applied 10/3 and accepted 10/16 for Lyman Briggs).
Congratulations!
OOS or in state?
Sorry, OOS
Got acceptance email this morning. OOS, business, 31 ACT, 4.0UW. Applied 10/17. Presidential and study abroad scholarships.
My son goes to Alabama and Iāve been on the MSU campus a handful of times in the past few years. I feel like MSU feels bigger, but is still walkable. My daughter first loved all the trees and the river area but then decided the buildings were too boxy and without enough character for her. I thought they were fine, lol. The food was much better at MSU. Iāve talked to very friendly students at both campuses. Not sure on the overall vibe though. Iām not sure I was there enough to really know.
S25 got accepted as Exploring business preference, OOS. Applied 10/26, Application complete 10/28, Status update email -11/11. Deans Scholarship (10k) and Presidential Study Abroad (3-5k). He likes the business school but is concerned about admission chances via standard route to the Broad school. Any idea on the admit rate via standard route?
Can I know the stats Please?
Thanks for the dates. D25 submitted her application on oct 28th. Hopefully we will hear soon.
We received acceptance earlyOct with merit but no men of honors college. If we havenāt heard by now, do you think that ship has sailed?
According to their website: Invitation to the Honors College is carefully considered and competitive. Invitations are extended within approximately six to eight weeks following MSU admission. So I think there might still be hope.
If you donāt get an invite, you have two more options
- You can apply to honors college directly this winter (donāt know much about it)
- You get an invite after a first semester of freshman year (very common, fairly easy to get with a good GPA)
