Anyone else received acceptance recently?
Waiting from Lyman Briggs, applied in-state 10/28…
D25 applied (as an out of state) on 10/28 as well but has not yet heard.
My daughter applied out of state 10/21 and had all application complete 10/31 she was accepted yesterday with presidential scholarship and study abroad scholarship. She was test optional with a 4.1, 4 AP courses , leadership positions, volunteer work and works outside of school. She applied for the communications department for public relations.
I feel like they are more into OOS applicants, LOL
D25 test optional, gpa 4.12 (probably a little higher if all dual enrolment is added), 7 AP, 4 classes dual-enrolled at MSU, 3 classes dual-enrolled in IU Bloomington, 6 classes plus lab dual-enrolled at UM-Flint (plus 2 more classes next semester). National champion and international medalist (in a niche sport though). Volunteering, hospital shadowing, HOSA, Art Society, NHS, Varsity sport. Applied to Lyman Briggs 10/28, application states as complete since 10/29. Waiting…
I think we are approaching a higher volume time and it just takes longer. Most of my son’s friends started submitting their applications last week of October. We were early birds.
Congrats to all the possible future Spartans! My daughter is a senior and even though she’s had a weird four years (Covid, Mel Tucker, presidential search, shooting) she wouldn’t trade it for anything.
As I mentioned upthread, please ask away if you have any questions. She is in CANR so I can’t answer specific questions about other colleges, but I can give impressions on the campus, housing, etc. She is graduating with a major, minor and two concentrations so if you plan it the right way you definitely get your money’s worth lol.
GO GREEN! (and here’s where you ALWAYS answer GO WHITE!)
Look into First year seminars abroad.
It’s a two week program for freshmen
2 nights at MSU dorm and 12-14 days abroad
It’s a great program combining academic and social activities and you earn 3-4 credits.
And you can use it to meet one of the university IAH requirements.
It’s cheaper and shorter than most study abroad programs, so maybe a good way to use the scholarship
Application submitted on 10/22. OOS, international. Still waiting for a decision.
Application submitted 10/17, Same here, still waiting. International. Economics
We are in the same boat. My son also got into business exploratory with 10k Dean scholarship, OOS. Cost of attendance is $64250 for OOS. Even with 10k scholarship it is still 54k for us for a slim chance (as per the information from forums and their website) to get into major if not directly admitted. Not sure why these colleges expect kids to pay this much without confirmed major. Better go full direct admit and reject the rest! My son is leaning to Penn State if admitted as undeclared where at least the requirements are more straightforward (GPA target) or other good universities with confirmed business school admittance. Any thoughts from your side on this situation?
My son is actually specifically interested in the business of sports in some capacity, so he has not been fretting about direct admit to schools like MSU. He is also applying to specific sports marketing & management programs at places like Indiana U, U of South Carolina, Ohio State, etc.
And, while I would consider his stats decent, they are certainly not other-worldly. He was never going to be competitive for direct admit at places like Kelley at IU, etc.
OOS intl indian. School does not do gpa, 1440 SAT ACCEPTED for economics with presidential study abroad scholarship. App complete 10/17.
S25 applied 10/25 OOS test optional, accepted 11/18 Computer Engineering preference. Presidential and study abroad scholarships. Honor college invite arrived today along with Honors College Excellence Scholarship.
Congratulations!
Got the honors invite and additional scholarship this morning (a Sunday!)…got the regular acceptance on November 4
congrats to you. That is much faster than the 6-8 weeks the website says.
My daughter did not apply by November 1 - i’m a little confused by what the website says… will she still be considered rolling admissions? Or will her decision come later (eg after the New Year)?
Yes, it’s all still rolling admission, but her app won’t be looked at until the Early Action applicants are complete. Early Action applicants will all get a decision by Jan. 15. Applicants after Nov. 1 (regular decision) will be considered on a rolling basis, and they will hear by March 31. The benefits of Early Action, thus, being:
1 - hearing sooner
2 - greater scholarship consideration
Best wishes!
Just got awarded the Provost scholarship, but no invite from the honors college yet. Nothing else is required for consideration right? And how long does it take for any update about the honors program?
