BTW, I think LB has its own Honors floor.
My D24 was admitted to the honors college last year with a 1430.
Thanks again for all your information! He was able to make the switch to Lyman Briggs in the Portal! In an email conversation with LB, it sounded like just under half the spots are spoken for (in terms of students that have committed/deposited). I think finding out about LB might be the factor that puts MSU firmly in the top spot for my S25, unless he gets in at his top reachiest reach. Heāll find out about that school next week, and if that is reject or defer, weāll deposit at MSU. I think the only thing that would really persuade him elsewhere at this point might be a full or close to full scholarship.
Is LBC open to out of state students as well? My daughter was accepted to the Integrated Sciences for Secondary Education program.
Yes - We are out of state, and my S25 just switched to Lyman Briggs.
What do you mean by switched to? Switched housing or colleges?
Yes, all residential colleges are open to both in and out of state.
My son was admitted in late October but we havenāt heard anything about the Honors College yet. Should we assume he didnāt qualify? He was awarded the Deanās Scholarship with his admission offer. Has anyone heard anything from the Honors College?
Sorry I wasnāt clear! He just changed his college designation in the portal to Lyman Briggs.
We havenāt deposited yet (waiting on an extreme reach school next weekā¦if he were somehow to get in at that school, it would change all our thinking). But assuming he does not get in to that school, then we will be depositing at MSU next week I think, which guarantees a spot in Lyman Briggs - designated housing, from what I understand!
Can someone tell me about housing if we are not sure if this is the school should I be signing up for housing- what is Lyman Briggs?
Also what is the best dorm and do you get to select dorm or is it assigned- does anyone know if deposit is partially refundable?
Lyman Briggs is one of the residential colleges. MSU has 3 residential colleges. Lyman Briggs is science centered. Sort of like a small college within a large university, you live and take most classes in the same building. If you are not a part of a residential college, I think your dorm is assigned by the university.

So then you apply separately for those? Is there a business one or communications?
You choose a bathroom style, community vs. private. My son was in Bryan hall in Brody - the newest dorms with community bathrooms and loved it!
Our OOS S25 was admitted this week CE Engineering!
$15k Presidential and $13k Honors Scholarship.
4.0UW/4.45W
12 APs (including AP Calc BC)
#1 rank/350
1380 SAT
4 year varsity sport
A couple other ECās but nothing monumental.
Waiting on a few other schools, but he is excited about this one!
Has anyone who was accepted received anything in the mail? (about the general acceptance). We got something yesterday from the honors college but never got an āadmission letterāā¦
I donāt think we have actually
We havenāt received anything. Someone on here told me it would come a few weeks after the acceptance but my daughter was accepted on Halloween so I am assuming they donāt actually mail anything.
Congratulations! When did he apply? (Weāre waiting to hear, and Iām wondering how long of a backlog they have currently.)
The flags/acceptance packages are coming as per admin on Michigan state Facebook page. I think there was an issue getting them or something. Hopefully theyāll be coming soon!
